Looks like a hardened criminal to me, camera in hand, highly dangerous. Note well the person holding the rifle has his finger well away from the trigger, must have only had half his training or it's a fake, or set up. I hope, no one could be that stupid, to point a rifle at someone just for the hell. :?

The rules of engagement are very crystal clear, no threat, move on. Try to watch less TV.

I've heard that Queensland is slightly behind, "large square thing on the wall" all furniture is facing at TV, focal point. :)
I like TV, coming to a state near you. Better place to be than Sydney at the moment, that from what the news has shown is unreal, Global warming? Or global melting?

He's obviously posing for the photo and reacting to a threat, but still... To be the photographer there... Can't say I wouldn't be a little freaked out.

We can't say for sure of course. I'd hazzard a guess he's just got the safety on though.

What do you reckon the chances are that before the photo he replaced the magazine with an empty to keep up the appearance and cleared the chamber?

Or that he just 'flicked it to safe' ?

I'd guess the later.

I thought I might have dinged a crown at one point... To look, I first removed the mag and the bolt and looked down barrel from the action first to take every precaution.

I looked down from the muzzle end knowing it was perfectly safe but still hesitated a bit to actually get in front of the thing.

 I think somewhere in some training manual, it clearly states, don't point a rifle or weapon at anyone you are not prepared to shoot. Yes I know there are some who look through their telescopic sights to identify, that's another chapter. Revert back to chapter one, "Never point". I don't care if God cleared the rifle, it's a bad look and stupid. Very glad it's not in Australia, well the background, people etc. Still makes me mad that someone would do that, bad image.

Actually if you look carefully the rifle appears to point over the persons left shoulder as he points his camera at the clown holding the rifle.
