I know a guy who had a new friend over to his house and the friend wanted to shoot a gun ( said he never had done it before) so the guy went and got his gun keys and the 'friend' saw where he kept the keys. My friend ( let's call him joe) trusted his new friend and didn't think anything of him know where the gun safe keys were. Anyway a few weeks later joe found that his gun safe had been raided while he was at work and whoever did it had used the keys to open the safe.
He immediately knew that it was his 'friend' who had robbed him so joe went to the cops and reported the robbery (there was a full investigation) and it turned out that Joes new ' friend' had been using a fake name and backstory to get to joes safe which was full of several very expensive guns. The cops eventually found some of the guns ( I think it was in a bikie den) and the ones they had found had been modified to be easily concealable (sawn of barrels and stocks) . The guns weren't safe or legal anymore so Joe claimed insurance and replaced his guns.
So the moral of the story is , don't let people know where you keep your keys , even if you trust them. Sorry about the long winded story-telling but you get the idea
