By request, here's a couple of pics of the latest creation from Noisy Labs of my portable sawmill. It'll handle logs from 2' to 10' (and then some if Iuse some left over steel to make an extension) and up to 2'6" diameter. So far I haven't hit the $100 mark in steel but I've got almost $600 in it including the 13hp engine. Never new there was a sawmill hiding in my scrap heap!

There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
Good old bush ingenuity at its finest, I have only the greatest of respect for those that can make something useful from almost nothing. Good job mate, any chance of a YouTube video of it in action? Does the timber feed itself through the blade or do you need to push it?
There will be a short and daggy video posted on the Noisydad youtube channel (such as it is but there's also a shooting video there) when Lady Noisy finishes it. The adjustable height cutting head rolls along the rails passing over the log. It takes no effort at all to push it along. You can see the spiked dogs holding the log. The band saw blade is a tooth per inch and water lubed. I may get a blade made that's a tooth per 3/4".

Making bigger stuff,,,,,,,, or, Making stuff BIGGER,,,,,,,,
Effing brilliant Mate.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing! I've come to realize that,,,,, the two most loving, loyal, and trustworthy females in my entire life were both canines.
That's a great slabbing mill Noisydad! You must have a world class scrap heap to raise one of those from it, any guided fossicking tours? I used to love going through old scrap and demolition yards looking for ideas and dreams. Only $600 so far? beats a Norwood for $9K, as well as the pleasure of Home Made.

As much as I'd like to, time is not my friend these days and short winter days dont help either. However, if Lady Noisy convinces me to pull up stumps and move to her farm I'll be going back to my previous (part time - though I used to sometimes wonder which was the second job) occupation which was my mobile farm maintenance and light engineering service. Then I'll be spending more time in the workshop than I get these days.
