Seen any good movies, gun related or not?

Post by <<Genesis93>> » 07 May 2016, 10:46 am

Caught the latest Bruce Willis flick, 'Precious Cargo'.... was highly underwhelming, I think it was a milk money role, he gotta pay the bills.... kind of exhaustingly predictable, though not boring.... it wasnt his best effort, but if you like lots of theatrical shooting....

Image

Disappointing when these 'movie houses' cant get their gun bizo right, like the old endless magazines and recoil-less pistols and rifles.... but in this movie the 'sniper' (female) was shooting a 308 win mag .. :) funny how you can dress a rifle up and it no longer looks almost a century old  , who can pick it??

I've been struggling with movie releases for a while now - even some with bigger named actors...

It doesn't seem like there's anything worthy of watching of late - with the odd exception of the very big name sci-fi releases. (Antman, Gardians of the Galaxy, or Star Wars)...

Either they're not writing as many movies as they used to, they've lost the ability to write a good story line (I couldn't give a @#$@ about sfx - storyline is and is where it's always been for me...), or I've just become old, cynical and too much of a critic with my expectations getting too high. ;)

Either way - I'll be watching this thread with interest to see if there's anything suggested that I might fancy...

Movies I'm looking forward to seeing are the next release of Gardians of the Galaxy (2017), The next Star Wars (end of 2016) and the next Star Trek movie (2017 I believe).

Maybe it's time to pull out those old Tom Clancy DVD's in the cupboard... Been a while since I've seen Shooter as well - which I also enjoyed.

The New Stars really annoyed me, how they are so lacking in ideas that they took the old movie, replaced the boy with a girl, renamed the planet and to top it off, changed the race of the clones.... all in the name of PC 'social justice'....
couple all that with the sale of the rights to Disney - so we'll have a new movie every year or 2.... forget that, I'd rather watch 60's and 70's vintage Bond (Its actually really good in HD!!).

Pinapple Express is always a good one, although anything with the old ultra violence is usually entertaining.

The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II - Not the usual Billy Connolly role, plenty of gratuitous violence in both films.

Not that new but fairly recent:

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse: really quite funny in a juvenile sort of way.

Mud: grimy story line of crime, redemption and retribution in the US deep South. Well acted and directed. Well worth watching.

The Big Short: great flick. Bloody merchant bankers!!!

Korean action comedy, the good the bad and the weird. Decent flick if you don't mind subtitles.

Well, if we are going old school, I'd recommend CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMGCPRJNKUg

High school kids smoke nuclear weed and it makes them crazy and have wild mutant babies.

Army of Darkness is a funny one.

Maybe it was a magazine fed flintlock :unknown:

But the bear attack was a classic, they may as well shown his 4 limbs separated from his body then have them reattached...and his recovery after a shot of Rum and a good nights sleep... The meme with Leo grappling for the Oscar was a classic as well...fitting...

Blood Orange (2016)... stars Iggy Pop (jeez he's a dried up pruney, leathery skinned fella) about..... a sick old muso who enjoys hunting rabbits with a 303 :friends: while his young wife spends her day 'entertaining' the pool boy.... then it gets twisty...

The Outlaw Josie Wales
The Unforgiven
The Patriot
Ned Kelly
Fury
Hornblower (Series)
Winchester '73
Hell on Wheels (series)
Zulu
Zulu Dawn
Tom Horn
YouTube
Lot of oldies in this quick list - but I reckon they're better anyway.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Seriously though, the movie is almost all fiction. The truth is so much worse.
