Wow this US range instructor could use some training of his own...

Not exactly sure what I was looking for in that video but I did notice that no one takes any pride in that range.

Years ago in Perth, we had a guy shooting IPSC in a chair, and he wasn't a problem at all.
But what this idiot is doing is just crazy when there are people ahead of his shooter's firing line.
They should be adapting the training to work within the shooter's abilities, not trying to adapt the shooter to fit into situations they're never likely to be put in in reality.

Thx Genesis for fixing the link :)

Got no issue with anyone wanting to get out and have a go, I'd lIke to see more of it. But time and place. I don't think this guy would ever be advancing on an assailant. But regardless, allowing anyone to fire with everyone else in front of the barrel, just wow, words fail me.

I can't see the video but I know what it is. That's James Yeager's school. Do a search and you'll find a lot of colorful videos and commentary about the man, including video of him allegedly abandoning his detail under fire in Iraq with some KIA. That's the opinion of some, anyway.

Given his approach to safety, his detail was probably safer once he left. Just saying

Oh, he also published a video of him personally threatening either to harm someone or lead a violent revolution, or both (I actually forget) and had his concealed carry permit revoked. Whatever it was, it's gotta be pretty bad in the US to get a carry permit yanked. It would normally be a specific threat that rises to the criminally prosecutable level.

I have no personal experience with the guy. I would avoid him myself, too much of that stuff buzzing around for whatever it is or is not worth.

I just read something that reminded me. They have had students throw their chambered handguns down on the rocks. One time, one of his instructors then stomped on a student's Glock to show how tough it was. It must have had a rock poking in the trigger guard because it went off and shot one of the student's trucks.

This happened in the carpark _outside_ the range too.

I was wondering about that.

Is there any accreditation with the NRA or something to become an instructor?

Or are all these "entrepreneurs" just deciding they'e got what it takes?
