Greetings from Florida's Capital City

Post by Miami_JBT » 23 Aug 2016, 7:10 am

Been lurking for a little while and I figured I’d finally join. So I guess I now need to introduce myself.

Born and raised in Miami Florida and currently living in Tallahassee (State Capital). Family is Cuban and Spanish in my first language. I’m a second generation cop and started my career in Uniform Patrol in Miami. Yes, the actual Miami of Miami Vice fame. Anyways…. I’ve progressed in my career and moved from Uniform Patrol to VIP/Dignitary Protection and now currently in plain clothes investigations. Other than being a cop I was also a grunt in the Army and had a gun shop.

As a second gen cop, I grew up around guns. My father was a cop for 36 years and also a hunter. So guns around the house were common. I remember dad wearing a S&W Model 13 as a plain clothes special agent during the cocaine cowboy days of 1980s Miami and then him moving onto the Beretta 92SB and later he was one of the first cops in Florida to carry Glock. So yeah…. Guns are I have a very long history together.

Anyways; I enjoy traveling, guns, hunting, and making new contacts across the globe. I hope I don’t come across as some brash jerk showing off his toys. I’m a sucker for police and military patches and challenge coins.

howdy buddy. it is awesome to see another pal in uniform proudly serving this great nation of ours; I am a maj at the air force academy here out of Colorado Springs. A lot of respect and admiration for you guys in blue and our troopers in the army. you guys are the unsung heroes. we just fly, recon and / or bomb. you guys are truly brave.
keep up the work buddy and thanks for your service - cops are great.

Your 'dexterity' with English is impressive, given that it's NOT your 'first language'.

( many about here .... Including me, look quite ordinary in our attempt with English. Lol )

And bitching each other out.

It's an Aussie skill to read whether two people making fun and hassling each other are best mates or rivals, often looks the same.

Yeah, sometimes the 'mericans just don't get us. A Texan I met at a shoot in New Mexico a couple of years ago was showing me how he had converted a Sharps to .22 L.R. I told him he was a "clever bastard", then had to explain that it was a compliment. He's now a good mate and thinks he "gets" Aussie humour. :allegedly:

That's probably the case with many people, they'll vote for him to prevent another clinton 'regime'...

He's willing to built bridges with Russia, while Hillary say the opposite...
WHY would you not want to seek peaceful relations with the other Nuclear superpower???

The states is going to be such a mess after this election.

Personally I can't understand how anyone with half a brain can support trump.

I'm no fan of Hilary, I get that she is the 'same old' kind of politician and that isn't hasn't been working for a lot of citizens there, but trump is just an idiot.

I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I mean it in a literal one which is frightening for a President.

It's lose / worse-loss there with this one.

I was a huge fan of him and was proud to vote for him. He is big in South Florida economically.

The United States needs to stop being the World Police. When I was a young 18 year PFC. I thought the greatest thing in the world was spreading American flavored Democracy. Boy was I wrong. The majority of the world does not run of western ideals and morals.

War should be fought in this manner. To utterly destroy iur enemies, take over their land and resources, and expand our nation. Nothing more and nothing less. Nation Building is a failure. The expenditure of National Blood and Treasure should be done with care and caution.

We've spent 15 years in conflict and we have gotten nothing out of it. The Taliban is not defeated, Iraq is a mess, peace is not in the Middle East, our economy is in shambles, and our young men and women are either dead or crippled.

We should have leveled Afghanistan and laid waste to them. They understand violence and respect it.

As was said in Rome.

Let them hate.... as long as they fear.

Hillary Clinton was a scumbag and a thief. The fact that she's a professional politician is exactly what as ruined my country. They don't represent the people. They just represent their backers.

Just to give you an idea. On Friday Trump' Campaign stated the following

Donald Trump Launches 'Second Amendment Coalition'

On November 3 Donald Trump launched the “Second Amendment Coalition,” featuring pro-gun U.S. Congressmen, the NRA-ILA’s Chris Cox, and gun manufacturers like Jesse James and Daniel Defense’s Marty Daniel.

The coalition is being chaired by Donald Trump Jr., an avid hunter and outspoken defender of the right to keep and bear arms, and Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA-ILA.

Breitbart News has the announcement issued by the Trump/Pence campaign in which co-chairman Donald Jr. introduces the coalition, saying:

My father defends the Second Amendment, so that you and I and your spouse and your children can take care of themselves when someone much stronger, much meaner and much more vicious than them tries to break into their home. It’s not just a hobby or something I do on the weekends. It’s a lifestyle, and as my father often says, “It’s about self-defense, plain and simple.”
Chris Cox added:

This election isn’t about the next four years. It’s about the next forty years, so voting for Hillary Clinton, or not voting, is simply not an option. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that we have a fundamental, individual right to protect ourselves and our families with a firearm in our own homes. [But] Clinton said, “the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment.’ A Clinton Supreme Court means your right to own a firearm is gone.
In addition to Donald Jr. and Cox, the Second Amendment Coalition has 62 co-chairs who will continue to advise Trump and Pence during their time in the White House. Those co-chairs are:

The Honorable Jim Gilmore

U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop

U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer

U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson

On April 11, 2015, as Republican primary candidates were just starting to position themselves for the presidential race, Trump said:

It is so important that we maintain the Second Amendment and that we maintain it strongly. And one of the main reasons is because the good people, the upstanding people, follow laws and norms but the bad ones don’t. So if the Second Amendment weren’t there to protect our rights and someone tampered with them, the good people would be affected but the bad people wouldn’t care–they couldn’t care less.

It is absolutely imperative that we maintain the Second Amendment in its strongest form.

His Second Amendment Coalition is a testimony to his commitment to do just that—protect and maintain the Second Amendment
