Firearms insurance

Post by beerd » 28 Nov 2013, 7:51 am

Hi guys,

I'm waiting on the product discloser statement and whatever for my home contents insurance after moving into a new place. Takes a week or whatever to arrive...

I forgot to ask about whether the insurance covers guns specifically when I was on the phone and it took 40 minutes to get through so not exactly keen to call again

Most contents policies include firearms insurance I assume (hope)?

Some do, some don't.

Sorry but that's about as helpful as it gets  Check your PDS as you said to find out.

There is always the SSAA stand alone firearms insurance if required.

Definitely one to check the details of.

Even if they are covered there are some times limits, like they will only cover you for up to $1,000 unless you take out extra cover.

Without it you could have a 15k rifle stolen and still only get a grand back :(

If a thief breaks in your gun safe will obviously draw his attention once he finds it.

Check, better safe than sorry.

Mine doesn't cover me for fire if it's caused by discharging a rifle in the house

Ha ha.

Yes well I think I can cross that off the list as a concern.

Thanks guys, I'll be sure to examine to book with a fine tooth comb when it arrives.

The SSAA standalone insurance is worth a look I think.

I got a quote and it was pretty reasonable.
