Valuable Rabbit Trap (I'm stoked)

I used to collect all sorts of old wares, but when shifting from interstate 6 years ago, I sold most of it bit by bit.
One thing I did not sell was a strange looking rabbit trap.
Having been an avid trapper in my youth, I had quite a number of them,,, but this particular one stumped me.
I had never seen one like it, so I held onto it all this time.
It is in very good working condition, and has the original chain and spike which is a bit of a rarity in itself.

Last week curiosity got the better of me, and I googled it.

It turns out it is quite rare, and valuable to boot.
A damaged one sold recently in England at auction for 125 pounds.

I'm stoked,,,,,

Nice one mate... that's some serious coin.... Its surprising how much some old gear is worth ! rare is good in that aspect....

I have about 20 brand new Rublex flopy's for fishing and about 200 more of all the various colors (brand new still in the box) that dad said I can have when he is gone (crappy way to get them) ... They are a great lure.... and are quite valuable, not that I will ever sell any of them... most new ones go for around $50 ea some as much as $70 ea....

Dad recently sold around 100 of them at $50 ea... serious coin....

Mind boggling really...... not that I will ever part with one, as they are the ducks nuts imo......

I don't know why or how, but they are also known as a "gin trap"

Looks to me intended for something much stronger.

Ya right Die very interesting. Love the little kingfisher trap. Definitely not what I was thinking when Ya called it a gin trap . Was thinking it might have something to do with the old dispersal raids.

I don't know about you mob, but I've encountered more than my fair share of troublesome mole's over the years. Something like this could have come in handy ..

I think if my memory is correct, the (male) English mole only gets to have sex ONCE in their life because almost immediately after
they finish,,,,,, they have a massive heart attack and die.

Why? it's great fun to do, I like trapping foxes myself.

Apart from his grandson, trapping bunnies is the only thing keeping my ol'man alive...he loves it...!!!

I raided a couple of traps from Dad's shed yesterday. I don't have any info on the wire sprung one but there were two and I'm sure the old man can spare one

Im a little stumped on this one in the pic...infact im confused about 2 things...

Can any one tell me any anything about this rabbit trap,...particularly its value-as pictured.

And also, what kind of rabbit is this...???

PS...note the claret...i couldnt get within cooee of this cutie so the pic is obviously AFTER its skull ate a 22 short...
(Im so blind i had to put my glasses on to see the open sights at 5 metres from the cat...err...i mean funny looking rabbit.... )

Yep, it's closed,,,,,,, and something got in its way.

I'd say its extremely valuable if it keeps catching those stripey "rabbits"

I'm guessing it's a "Spade" by name.
