Looking at Xmas and those foxes I couldn't get due to the range restriction of the .22 Mag, I've decided in 2018 that I'll go ahead and get that Tikka T3X in .243 I've been eyeing for a while now.

Are you certain that's a good idea. Perhaps it would be betterto get a:
222
223
243
7x57
7-08
6.5x55
270
3006
22hornet & a
Shangi
Pea shooter

Boooooring for me. Illness in the family has prevented me doing a great deal and cancelled two deer hunting trips as a result. :(
Few dozen rabbits and 4 or 5 foxes. :(

Plink fest was great too. I will be more prepared for that next year.

Developed slug loads for 12g too. Great result for that.

Not quite correct. Try googling meds soot. But it does depend on the dosage.

Ummm.... is there a thread where the reason for this is explained?
It would be a great story!

A few slabs of 12g for me.
Coupla hundred .22lr
Maybe 100 223
8 308 :unknown:

No hunting anything for me. Would like to, not really sure how to start (or find the time).
I’d like to think that in 2018 I’d be able to change that. And purchase a scope or 2 and a rifle or 2!!

I’m feeling like a hack after reading the posts in this thread

Happy New Year guys :drinks:

Took ownership of a nice WW1 germam mauser (and my first milsurp) last year which was close to a highlight, yet to shoot her.

My poor little .22 saw less than 50 rounds and a couple bunnies, I didnt do much shooting for fun but put a lot of time in the field hunting so as a result my 300wm got carried around on 9 trips and around 20 days for 2 shots and 2 deer so wont argue too much with those numbers except I would have liked to have spent some range time for the longer shots.

Shot clays a couple times, went up to the rice twice and had my first Vic duck opening and one trip during the season, plenty of ducks hit the water.

On reflection having spent 25% of my weekends away hunting last year (not too mention all the fishing trips) I gotta say I have a pretty good missus!

Many rounds used but the best part of the year(shooting wise) was getting ahead financially and being able to grow my collection from one to five. :drinks:

the pinnacle of 2017 for shooting wise was shooting a 10 point red stag :D
I've seen bigger and always let them go but I wanted this one, shot at 300 with my trusty 30-06

coming a very close second and only because I'm selfish is my son's first ever rabbit, headshot from his 17 ackley at 110 yards

don't know how many shots were fired last year 2017 but it is never enough :drinks:

Hey marksman, did your lad's first bunny kick its way down the warren after he shot it...?
Or do you use him as a ferret to chase the bunnies out...?
Cos by the looks of his legs he went down warren to get it......

Seriously though, 110yd head shot is a fine effort for a first bunny...! Good on him (& proud dad)...!!

I got flagged by Homeland Security when I tried getting an export permit for 20mm Vulcan Cannon brass cases. It's no secret I'm working on getting an Anzio 20/50 and this was part of that project. Since the permit was denied and Border Force want a B710 which will probably get refused I've put the 20/50 on the backburner....for now :)

The 204 Ruger case in the demister occurred after popping a giant bunny in the back of the skull and 3 of his mates sticking their heads up for a look see. A rapid cycling of the bolt saw the offending case ejected towards the windscreen and straight into the vent, a word of advice is in order. Never shoot a .204 from inside a vehicle through the passenger window without hearing protection....trust me on this one.
As for efforts to retrieve the offending piece of brass...I have tried, vacuum, compressed air, tubes with sticky stuff on the ends, endoscopic cameras, driving real fast and jumping on the brakes (both forwards and backwards) with the vent selector in every position. So far nothing has worked, the friggen thing continues to rattle and make noise every time I brake, accelerate or drive on bumpy roads. One way or another I will fix it :)
