Case collection

Post by juststarting » 21 Jan 2018, 10:54 pm

I generally try to get a case from every caliber/chambering, whatever you want to call it (n.b. I don't care what you call it :) ) that I've ever shot (if I didn't shoot it, I'm not interested). Not necessarily from every firearm (I've shot a few of the same caliber) or type of firearm (pistol or rifle, also shot a few that crossover in chambering...), rather just the case.

Image

Anyway, I think I may have an addiction (and a few enablers), not a problem! Problem is only when addiction cannot be fulfilled.

p.s.
Maybe 2 or 3 cases still missing, soooon... And one brand case to be added hopefully in the next couple of weeks :)

You need a display case on the wall, with room for expansion, but keep away from 105mm and above or you will need a bigger display case!

Hmmmm...I think I probably have brass and ammo from everything I've fired. I don't have brass from the actual M16 I fired with Army Cadets, and I don't have actual brass from the .22's we used on the Cadets smallbore team - I can't even remember what the rifles or ammo were that we used :-(
I have brass from all the handguns I've fired, and from all my rifles from when I was a kid.
I also have some other bits and pieces from handguns, shotguns and rifles I haven't fired. A gunshop in Perth used to keep an ashtray on the counter with all sorts of odd cartridges in it for collectors to peruse :-)

Alright, well, I stand corrected than. I don't have 'actual' cases either. Some would have been taken at the customs lol. Just 'a' case from all that :)

A .50BMG is one of those cartridges that I have but haven't fired yet :-)
Saw the doc this morning and have actually broken three ribs, so I won't be playing with any .50BMG's just yet!

Thought you shot the Flinch Master at Plinkfest 2017 ???....you should have asked for a couple cases then. I was only saving the Hornady brass but the WCC stuff was for anyone wanting a case for their pool room :)

Twenty years back I started case and ammo collecting for the young bloke [he was 10 at the time]
Then the cubby house burned down and that was that.
Happy news is that he is now 30 and has not set fire to anything else !

Yep, apparently the Desert Tech resembles some Chinese WWII machine gun and has been temporally classified as prohibited for sale in NSW. Those of us that have them can still use them for the genuine needs as per our licenses which for me is Target, Hunting, Pest & Vermin Control. Till they come back with a final ruling I cannot sell the rifles or lend them to other licensed shooters lest I be charged with supplying a prohibited firearm. This debacle started a few months back and came about when Desert tactical Arms (DTA) changed their branding to Desert Tech. The registry had a classification for DTA and it was approved but when a dealer tried registering a "Desert Tech" there was no classification, some photos were sent to the registry and some pubic servant made a "judgement" call to classify it as prohibited under the "Appearance" laws....I have 2 HTI's & an SRS which is roughly $50k with accessories sitting in limbo and at risk of seizure without notice or compensation. So far they haven't caught on that my Barrett M95 which is also a Bull pup and similar in appearance to the DT.

Bolt action 50BMG's are still perfectly legal and Cat B so my other 2 50's are safe.....for now.....

Brett, if it's a struggle keeping it there, I m happy to keep it in my state, where it's legal.

It will have a good and loving home, happy to setup a 24/7 camera showing you the rifle, any time you want to see it, etc.

I know you, I've met you and shot with you, I'll trust you with my wife and child but guns are on a whole different level :) Good try though.... :D

I appreciate the humor as I just spent the past 30min mashing the keyboard to email the registry. Apparently I have an excess of hand guns and need to submit a "Please Justify another" every time I submit a PTA. Not a big deal and the girls in the registry are pretty cool plus by preempting their request I save a few days of processing.

Sure....sent 21:49 Monday

To the Manager, Compliance
Good morning and my apologies as I meant to include a cover letter with the 2 PTA’s submitted last week (Nos, 1932xxxx & 1932xxxx). My son Daniel has completed his pistol safe handling course at the St Mary’s Pistol Club and is now a new member in training #xxxx. In order to progress his training and competition skills I have submitted PTA’s in order to obtain pistols of a suitable size for his hands and physical strength along with the ability to be safely used by the left handed. I have completed the necessary paperwork for him to obtain his Cat H Minors Permit which will be express posted tomorrow morning (23/1) with tracking 604 40420xxxxxx.
He already holds his Cat A,B Minors permit (No.4119xxxxx) and is looking forward to beating his dad in Rimfire silhouette competition 

Makes and models
S&W M&P 2.0 22LR Semi Auto – Small grip and fully ambidextrous (Slide stop, Safety & Mag release)

Ruger Single 10 Single action revolver – Nice small grip suitable for a child’s hand.

I hope this has provided sufficient background information relating to the requests though please feel free to contact me if further detail or clarification is required.

Many Thanks and Regards
Brett xxxxxx
