This is why I think this forum is REAL value.
Ask a question on any subject, and your bound to get replies from people that have that very experience and or expertise.
Couple the replies up to the old saying "a million blowflies can't be wrong" and you very quickly sort out the fly s**t from the pepper.

Well fellas, I have taken on board all the suggestions and advice that came from my original question/s
I have gone with my head and not my heart, and am really pleased that I did.
I gave the idea of the Cruiser V8s the big flick.

I was very fortunate to find a factory turbo six cylinder HDJ79 series only an hours drive from home, that is probably considered to be like the proverbial rocking horse sh!t.
I bought it privately just after Easter.
I went backwards in years (it is 2005 model) but well worth it, especially as this will probably be the last vehicle I will buy.

Its done only 133,000 klms (when I took delivery) and is in extremely good condition. (one owner since new)
Featuring,
Performance Power Module chip,
Gen Toyota steel wheels,
Full synthetic oil in Diffs, gearbox and transfer case,
New alternator,
New windscreen,
Stereo system with amp and sub woofer,
New alpine stereo head unit,
New JVC 6x9 speakers
Roof console,
Door pockets
Black duck seat covers,
GME UHF and Aerial
Tow bar,
Custom steel bullbar,
Double brush rails,
Side steps,
9,000 lb winch,
LED light bar,
LED tail lights,
Upgraded H4 headlights,
Steel tray with Stainless floor,
Stainless 60L water tank,
Mud guard Tool Box,
Anderson plugs at tray,
TJM heavy duty suspension,
Rear airbag suspension assisted,
New Hi lift jack,
Fuel tank belly guard,
Radiator belly guard,
LS diff
Roof mounted spot light control,
3" exhaust

I must admit I'm not a big fan of the Americanisms that seem to be growing each and every day.

They are NOT trucks,,,,,,,,,, they is UTES here in Aus.

I dunno; the tyres on our old HJ47 Landcruiser were labelled 'Light Truck', and much of the running gear on the Landcruiser was also used on (I think) one of the bus models, and one of the smaller Dyna trucks, from what I recall.
So, strictly speaking, they are both a 'Light Truck', AND a Ute.

In the last decade or so, though, Landcruisers have been sold/marketed as 'Landcruiser Utes'.

Nice Landcruiser; same year as mine, though yours has flares on the front wheel arches, and that bullbar angles out more than mine. I prefer your scrub-rails & side-steps to mine, though; beefier.
I run ROC 'Impact' alloy mags on mine, instead of those steel wheels you have. Just a bit lighter to lift them up onto the tray when changing one..
Do you have a standard tire underneath the tray as a spare? I have a standard underneath (cant fit a fat under there), and then a fat clamped onto the backboard at the front of the tray; behind the driver. The clamp can take 2 tyres, so I can carry 3 spares total if I do a run to somewhere like Birdsville..
I also have airbags on the back, with a compressor in the cabin behind the passenger seat. The airbags seem to be more than doubling the life of the rear springs, from what I can see.
I had a cruise control fitted after I buggered my ankle; the fly-by-wire throttle on them makes it pretty simple to fit one, and they reduce fatigue on long trips.
If it doesnt have one fitted, I'd also suggest a 'Return to Centre' steering damper. They dont cost much, and they take most of the wanderlust out of that steering as they age. Between the fat wheels, airbag rears and the RTC damper, my rig has proven to be very stable on a dirt/rough road, and feels very stable on the blacktop.
I REALLY like that Hi Lift jack setup; never thought of that as an option, but it might work really well....Hmmmm...

Cheers,

Rod.

It's term of endearement, to me the cruiser is more of a truck than a ute, nothing to do with America.

After driving my 105 wagon for a few weeks, I hopped back into my ute the other day, and I realised that it drives like a freaking truck...
[Or a tractor might be closer to the mark...]
Still brings a grin to my face, though.

FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THAT,,,,,,, I will attach a pic of another 79Series (a petrol one) that my partner and I bought that was damaged and we did the repairs and sold it on.
It had those ROH IMPACT rims on it. Great looking wheels BUT they don't live up to their name.
The passenger side front one had hit a kerb, and it just disintegrated. (pity I don't have a pic of the wheel to show you)

I FORGOT to mention, mine has cruise control also.

No way DB,,,,,,,,,
The one on the trailer is NOT the one I just bought,,,,,,
The one on the trailer is a completely different vehicle (it just happens to be the same color)

However, I do actually look after my stuff pretty well.
