Safety Catch Requirement for Serviceability Certificate

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with this requirement.

I have owned a sporterised Martini Cadet in .357 (without any sort of safety) since well before this requirement came in but will run into problems if I try to sell it in WA as it will be deemed unserviceable. I don't know it also applies other states.

Well they have no safety, you cant even half cock em. so they must be illegal in WA then?

Yes, they are illegal in WA, then. Regs 26B, Sub 2 (D), single action revolving rifles only, Cheers.

I wonder if it could be posited that the firearms is safe with the lever unclosed, as it will not fire until fully locked home? A bit of a stretch maybe, but who knows?

That happens - I had a Martini Enfield that was licenced with the condition "Club Use - Approved Club Use Activities Only".

If worst comes to worst a safety can be found and fitted like this Francotte action rifle I own made by Thomas Bland & Co, The same safety was fitted to BSA Martini actions also. By the way, it is not a requirement for Victoria, perhaps other States may offer what their own Regs are on this issue? Cheers

I suspect it's a WA only requirement.

The Sportco Cadet conversions (.22, .22 Hornet, etc) had a trigger block safety fitted which a local gunsmith says he can replicate.
