Haven't heard of that but it won't happen as first it would be impossible to establish due to costs.

But moreso it would be a gross invasion of privacy having cops able to look inside your room whenever they wish. Browneye comes to mind. They would need a host of desk wombats monitoring 80,000 plus rooms, sheds, barns etc 24/7. Impossible and a major privacy issue.

Ironically, you may recall previously if you had a general monitored home security system installed with movement monitors etc, if it went off the company would contact you but the cops would attend asap. But the cops ceased doing this years ago due to false alarms. Seems to me if they believe the above is essential then why not go back to the future and actually attend any alarms from firearm owners premises. Nah, lets have a room full of desk wombats with mattress's.

I doubt they would need human monitoring these days, I would think it would be done by computer and only passed to humans when something triggered the software.

mate , that's a understatement and a half..... :) labor are just turning into a socialist/communist party . they seem to be even worse in the west . i'll be voting for the "kat in the hat" from FNQ, and "auntie pauline" as always next election in QLD . as well as other conservative independent's

Yes, best strategy.
The two parties are full of professional politicians. SFA real life experience. NFI what it's like for the average Joe blow.

The more independents the better. I know, some are far from great. But at least the house is then more of a reflection of our society with perhaps new ideas and understanding rather than just towing the party lines.

I havnt voted for a major party for God knows how long. They always go to the bottom.

This is so funny. You support the guy who praises bob katter and Pauline Hanson.....and then deride the majors for having career politicians

Just how many different careers has Bob Katter had in his several decades in parliament? LOL he's one of the longest serving members? Literally a career politician? I don't know Pauline Hanson for her electrifying resume doing anything else either

They're all just as bad as each other.

Seems it's being reviewed. And it's already becoming clear that the bill is a joke.

both of those two have done more to support shooters than anyone else AFAIK . with the exception of liberal bridgette makenzie , i can't think of anyone in the two major parties who've done anything other than scare the public over firearms and then penalize LFO when their not the problem. i'm never going to suggest katter or hanson are great main stream politicians , but on numerous occasions independent's like them have held the balance in votes on bills in politics and stopped or amended bad policy . the worst thing to do is throw your hands in the air and say "their all bad" and do nothing come election time

Agree. I don't particularly like her. But she is more representative of the average Ozzie.

Majority of politicians just come straight out of university, work for one of the major parties and then get elected. No chippies, truck drivers, nurses etc. Just lawyers, and university graduates that have only worked for political parties. They simply are not representative of our society.

Well this isn't going to help, licensed firearm owner in WA with 13 firearms murders mother and daughter while looking for his ex-wife.

Murder suicide. Pretty obvious in his state he was going to use any means necessary. $4.5M house probably going to get awarded to the wife when the divorce was finalised.

Don't know.

How did the Liberals deal with Gerard Rennick and Craig Kelly when they didn't toe the party line?

For me it's Libertarian party ( was Liberal democrats) One Nation and Shooters Fishers farmers in state - federal elections.
Local council was vote independent she has done a great job for locals in my area.

I will never vote for Labor Liberals Greens or Vegans from Animal Justice party they will be fighting for last on my preferences.

Seems it was a truckload of fuel, the WA government due to this incident are now looking at tightening the new laws even further. Guessing collecting firarms will be targeted further.

If the bill passes through parliament, Western Australia will have the strictest gun legislation in the country.

However, authorities are now considering clamping down on gun owners even further as questions are raised over whether the deaths could have been prevented.

Speaking to media on Monday, Police Minister Paul Papalia revealed Bombara had 11 firearms under a recreational shooter's licence and two handguns under a collector licence.

It is understood the weapon used on Friday was one of the handguns.

Premier Roger Cook said the Floreat tragedy highlighted the need for tougher laws surrounding gun ownership.

'There is no reason a person living in Mosman Park should be able to legally own 13 guns,' Premier Roger Cook said.

'It's hard to fathom. One man, 13 guns, legally owned, right in the suburbs of Perth.'

DVOs are sometimes/often abused by women. However we do need them. Perhaps with additional safe guards.

BUT

Seems the new proposed WA laws don't include any safe guards in this respect. Nor do the current.

Just displays incompetence by who ever was involved in drafting them IMO

No, the current Act does have a clear specific section on this issue and the question that needs to be asked is as his wife obviously wanted "police protection" whilst gathering her belongings why didn't this trigger a check as to whether the guy had any DV history or suchlike. This would have also shown he had firearms and maybe it was a good idea to confiscate them under section 24(2) of the Act at this point.

(2) A member of the Police Force may seize and take possession of any firearm or ammunition that is in the possession of a person, whether or not the person is licensed or otherwise authorised to possess it if, in the opinion of the member of the Police Force —

(a) possession of it by that person may result in harm being suffered by any person; or

(b) that person is not at the time a fit and proper person to be in possession of it.

(2a) For the purpose of exercising the powers given by subsection (2), a member of the Police Force may enter and search any premises on which, in the opinion of the member of the Police Force, there are reasonable grounds to suspect that any firearm or ammunition may be found in the possession of a person in the circumstances described in that subsection.

Papalia and Co are doing major backflipping in an effort to disguise that WAPOL totally screwed up and he should be asking the Commissioner of Police for an explanation as to why under the circumstances wasn't this action undertaken. It has nothing to do with the number of guns he had, which is being made the centre of attention. But no lets continue to pursue all licenced firearms owners.

I'm thinking heads will role.

And,

Paul Papalia would have known that when he made the statement I posted earlier. That nothing could be done and that the new bill would fix it. Just fukin laughable. (Lieing prik)
