Help, New laws are forcing me to get rid of my CZ!

Post by T3X@N » 03 Mar 2025, 6:46 pm

Hi All,

As the title says, I got a nasty letter in the mail from the WA Police, telling me that I need to dispose of one of my rifles. I'm looking for some advice on this, as I'd strongly prefer to keep my CZ.

The key part of the letter reads:

Upon commencement of the 2024 Act on March 31, 2025 you transitional authority will be suspended in accordance with Section 415 (5) as your license relates to a prohibited firearm.
For reference, please see the relevant extract of Schedule 2, Division 1 of the 2024 Regulations below:
Schedule 2 -- Prohibited firearms
[r. 12]
Division 1 -- Prohibited firearms

9. a firearm, commonly known as a rapid-release action firearm, which automatically ejects a spent cartridge after firing as has a button, lever or similar mechanism to reload the firearm with a new cartridge.
It has been identified that you are currently licensed to a firearm that meets the definition of a rapid-release firearm:
In order for your transitional authority to be reinstated you will need to dispose of the firearm.

It goes on to explain how I can do this. Is there any way I can avoid this? The whole thing seems completely unfair to me.

Oh no, is that one of those CZ 515's?

Have they included a self-ejecting, button/lever release rimfire as a prohibited firearm?

Send it to a dealer in Victoria, then move here.

Other than that I don't know of any way to keep it in WA.

If you can't get rid of it, you can send it to a Southern Downs dealer for me, and I will buy it if the price is reasonable. PM if you decide this way, I just renewed my interest in CZ, having found a brand new nick 452 out here in a shop and the PTA came yesterday. I could probably find a Qld 515 here already but happy to help people in WA.

Don't know if this will be of any help, but you don't need to panic just yet.

Did you go to the rally to show your disdain against tranny?

Just hold onto it until they came. Who knows what will happen until it happens.

Awesome.
Seems the farmers have found out that their (prior) thoroughly legal button-release farm guns are now needing to be handed in. And they are not very happy.
This is from an SSAA email, however, typically, there is nothing seemingly supportive from them, not even a pipsqueak.
But those who are online way more than me, please let me know if I'm mistaken.
What a missed opportunity to get support from a group of people who WILL start making some noise now.
