Questions about Western Australian gun and ammunition laws. W.A. Firearms Act 1973.

Newly Approved Rifles

Post by YoungSC » 19 Dec 2019, 6:44 pm

I'm on the Downrange mailing list and the last two emails have been promoting the Ruger Precision Rimfire and the Tikka T3x Tac A1. Both of these would have previously been knocked back by WAPOL based on appearance, but are now approved.

Is there something going on behind the scenes?

I get that E-mail as well.At the range at ABRC Jarrahdale a fellow turned up with a full chassis pistol grip in that sandy camo pattern in 308 and shot a detail with it.I was surprised to see they were now approved here in W.A.

They previously banned anything with a barrel shroud as their preposterous notion was that it could conceal a gas block and so we could have scary semi autos in disguise.

I think that Beatons were getting around that by milling out the top of the barrel shroud for a while but it seems WAPOL have come round
