Additional Firearm Application - need for storage statement?

Post by NorthWester » 07 Feb 2023, 12:15 pm

With respect to the additional firearm application, same categories as already owned, does WAPOL send you out a letter requesting a new storage statement? Or do they assume that because you already have a compliant safe (for your existing firearms) that there is no need.

The LGS suggested that they don't ask on the additional applications. But I've read elsewhere that they do, just like an original application, which will add time to the application process.

Thank you

They are playing games at the moment, and asking for a new form 22 with gun safe pics/ details as per your original application. Once again stalling tactics.

Hopefully if they are doing this, they use email to communicate rather than written letters so we can respond quickly (ie copy the previous F22 and recycle). Looking at some posts on here it appears that it can take up to 6-10 days for a physical letter to get from Firearms to your home address... I thought letters were within a couple of days...

Whilst my current additional application has only been live for 27days, I'm starting to get a bit nervous. In all honesty I expected it either been processed by now or at least some contact if they required further info / clarification etc. But it looks like others are getting similar delays (or more) at the moment.

I haven't put an additional in for a couple years now, but don't you tick a box that says something to the effect of "I promise I still have storage which is compliant with Schedule 4 blah blah blah"

Unless they're just asking everyone to play silly buggers. Never put it past the WAPOL database admin to have lost everyone's old storage statements.....sometimes you can't ascribe malice to incompetence.
