Check out the Act/Regs; http://www.slp.wa.gov.au/
I could only find mag limits for Cat C, Cat D and handguns....

In all states?

Here, from WA Police website. Bit of a round about way to get to this, but.

Category C
C1 - A self loading rim fire rifle with a magazine capacity no more than 10 rounds

Cat A/B couldn't be any more so it has to be 10?

That is my understanding too.

The feds dont legislate/regulate firearms, there use or possessions in the states... apart from import restrictions..

The states laws apply, if the Police website say Cat C 10 rounds then that applies to Cat C!!

If theres no mention of A/B then there is no mention of A/B!! I could not locate anything in the LAW...

If anyone can find a specific reference, please do post, failing that then the mag capacity limit, internal fixed or detachable appear to not be prescribed...

I wasn't saying it's done at a national level.

Just saying my understanding was that magazine capacity is 10 in each state, based on the individual states laws.

I will see what else I can find...

I don't have a link for this handy but from memory I read it in VIC firearms act.

The info was that restrictions to higher category firearms apply to the ones below it.

e.g. if the magazine capacity for C is 10, then a B or A category firearm cannot have a magazine capacity greater than 10 because that would exceed the classification of a category C firearm.

That is why is isn't listed specifically for cat A/B. It rolls down from the higher category firearms.

Similar to when things are written as "...allowed unless prohibited by another part of this or any other act". The magazine capacity is dictated from above and not specified along side the lower categories.

Maybe that's for Victoria only. I will try and find a link and post back.

I'd like to see someone with a 100 round drum mag for their bolt action and see if the police don't have some objection to it.

Also I forgot to add There is a policy of not licensing rifles that will take AR/M16 magazines in a rifle that is chambered in .223 / 5.56 ... And in saying that ... I do know of guys who have licensed remmy pumps that do just that ...... Go Figure

So there is no limit technically, it's just limited in a round a bout way.

Like 50 cal right?

You're allowed to shoot them at approved ranges, except nearly no ranges are approved.
