W.A. new 5 & 10 firearm limits

Questions about Western Australian gun and ammunition laws. W.A. Firearms Act 1973.

Im in WA, and this is close to my heart.
We all think this is total set up.
ASAIK, the kid had been suspended from school for issues (mental health)
No-one helped him to get processional assistance, and he was crying out for help.
He stole dads guns - 1 being a .243cal and car, drove to the school, fired of 3 shots in the air, and 1 struck a building.
He then put said firearm back on car, and called 000 - police refuse to release the 000 sound recording --- very disturbing.. why not??? did said kid say he wasnt going to shoot anyone???
Then the very next day, my local gunshop in Busselton is held up by a gronk with a "hand gun"
Ive seen footage, and it looks so scripted.
And would you believe, his choice of weapon to steal is a YEP, a 243. Thankfully when he demanded ammo for it, the boys gave him .223 ammo.. he will only get 1 bad shot away..
Oh, and another kicker, is, he left his getaway car over the road to avoid cctv.. it looks suspiciously like an ex unmarked police car........
If it looks like bulls**t, smells like bulls**t, tastes like bulls**t....
McPutin and Papalabia are way worse than Johnnie at cooking up a bulls**t scenario..

Oh register individual barrels. All well and good but achieves nothing fighting crime.
Anyone can get a barrel and carbide rifling button in the mail from China.
It’s all too hard to fight crime. So they create ready made criminals instead. Today you’re legal. Tomorrow you’re not.
Just pass another law for a fresh batch of lafos and charge the ones who are unaware of it.
Put them in the paper as another illegal gun bust.
Meanwhile business as usual for organised crime. Make a hefty donation to the relevant authorities and pass it on to your consumers.
Too much much money for anyone to turn down with a product mark up a thousand times it’s cost.
The more illegal we make ownership the more handsomely we all retire. Everyone gets a cut.
Too hard to tackle it. To entrenched. To lucrative. To dangerous.
But we must appear to to be tackling it. So we do it the safe easy way. People who won’t complain or make waves. People who we know are honest and trustworthy.

Perhaps but try and get a quality barrel. I waited over a year for two a Bartlien and a Krieger. I buy a lot of stuff from China but I dont think a barrel will ever be one of them. Not a component that you want someone to cheap out on in the manufacturing.

Funny you should bring that up, when they're trying to bring in tougher gun laws there is always an "event" that is their golden egg to get it over the line with the sheep in the name of "community safety".
And not just here, its happened in other countries too but hey nothing like a good coincidence to push things along...

If someone seriously thinks that a clunky bureaucratic organisation like a government could engineer a secnario where a child shoots live ammunition into a building occupied by other children, in order to achieve a political goal that they have the power and capital to do anyway, without anybody talking about it when they shouldn't.....you need your head read

As the old saying goes. Nobody whose done much in the way of project management believes too much about these big conspiracies.

Just answer me this - why do they need to do it? Why do they need to shoot a school? They don't. There is no purpose. They could ban all private gun ownership tomorrow without it. In all truth we are just lucky they are even throwing us a bone of keeping 5 for rec shooters.

It's bleak

Absolutely. Why would they, when government can just pass laws unopposed. The average public servant or copper is not a CIA operative, nor are they capable of the stuff only seen in movies.

A few days ago, I was talking to a gent and the topic came up about cougars in WA. He said it was a conspiracy hidden by government. I said I was actually on the front line of investigating that when a public servant. Ranted on until I had to tell him, dude, I have seen all the files as I was part of it.

Oh the usual type. Slink around ...and then bam! Got you

Look up "Cordering Cougar" and "Nannup tiger". Was in the papers just about ever week in the early 1980's in Western Australia. Lots of stuff about escaped from a circus (truck rollover) or was a mascot on a submarine in WWII that got released. Big government cover up apparently.

Serial numbers of extra barrels/conversion kits etc are recorded in NSW - form "Barrel changes to a NSW Registered Firearm" is filled out by the dealer and sent to the registry when you take possession of said barrel/kit. No PTA required. I've had this done for a conversion kit for a handgun, logged as "additional barrel".

Yep, Perth had a drive through safari Park too. When they did a count of the lions, one couldn't be accounted for. So looking for it around outside park was the go. Only had .303 rifles, but hey.
It was eventually accounted for

Yes - I am indeed familiar with some of your work. You have done enough decent projects for decent clients to know better than most: when trying to plan a big job, it's hard enough to get people to agree on what time to break for lunch....let alone make sure they all keep their mouths shut about the great big conspiracy they just pulled off for no tangible reason

None of the absolute cookers on this forum are keen to engage with my modicum of common sense and describe why on earth their deranged fantasy would be needed in the first place, let alone how it could be successful.
