Questions about Western Australian gun and ammunition laws. W.A. Firearms Act 1973.

Licencing Revolver with two Cylinders.

Post by N.Field » 17 Jul 2023, 8:03 am

I am looking at buying a Ruger Single Six .22LR / .22WMR convertible and understand that the .22 WMR cylinder will have to go on my licence.

Does anyone know if this requires a separate application (and fee) or can both the firearm and the extra cylinder go on the one application?

What about the other cylinder? That's really the question.

Ring the Firearms branch and ask. Easier to find out before you buy.

Yeah ring the registry . If it was the same cartridge / caliber it might be viewed as an extra magazine . If it's another different cartridge but same caliber it might be view as a separate registration needing serial numbers on both . Definitely ring as the people who framed the gun laws knew stuff all about guns in general and it's messy , nonsensical at times and confusing .

Ok sorry, just saw is a WA question. Over east it's just one firearm. No idea about WA.

No worries, anyway the answer from WAPOL Licensing Services is "The separate cylinder can just be included in the application for the additional firearm."

Thanks to others who also replied.
