Seatainer as a safe/reloading room

Anyone in WA have an approved seatainer as a gunsafe ? well I mean,steel,thicker than 2mm walls,full length door hinges,more than 300kg,

Recall when I made my box,there was a weight limit before bolts were not required,not sure if it was 150kg,Ive converted to lbs [ 300 ] or 300kg.

just checked the WAPOL site,no weight reference,anyway there is the option of Sikaflexing 50 boltheads with 40mm washers all over the thing

in a lucky dip scenario,

Not thaaat many but my thinking is - plenty of [dare i say man cave ] room for a rack,reloading bench,timber powder box,mains power hooked up,RCDs,

lights,air con,bushfire and storm shelter for the family all in one,

I estimate 3.5k for the finished unit,how fancy do you want the truck ??----- er there's one down the back,it's Westy's,but it has flat tyres and the

fuel filters are full of dog piss,probably get it cheap

I was thinking about this a while ago, Two things if I ever get the money in my life to get some land, one would be a couple of containers, on stilts, (just to get them off the ground, bolted down, to act as a Serious Shed for this hobby, Could go with a Titan, but Yelling hard at the Tin would cause it to buckle..

The other one that I was thinking about was creating a bunker underground for a personal shooting range, I seem to remember you could get Wider than normal containers, line the walls with sand bags, some sound absorbing material, 20 or so end to end Now thats a Range and you can tikka boom boom whenever you want..

Not quite sure the legality of it all.. but one can dream Plus has the whole 'Cave' thing going for it

as long as the container has some sort of material to absorb the sound like sandbags, good ventilation and individuals have appropriate ear protection on it shouldn't be a problem I would think.

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but burying shipping containers sounds like a good way to get trapped underground. Depending on soil type, they don't have the structural integrity to hold back loose earth.

But, if you can dig a long enough, deep enough pit, then all the sound is being directed upwards anyhow.

I happen to have a large gully down the back paddock thats actually a deep cut gold mine, about 100 yards long and 40 feet deep, where they chased a deep lead back into the hill in the late 1800's I'm guessing, theres some very large trees in the base of it. You can see where the overburden was scraped to one side, and there's a remnant of a deep gully down in the creek where they followed it from.

I'm going to set up some target butts down there. Coming out onto the flat caused by all the dirt they moved, there's a potential 200 yard range. Haven't yet decided which is better, shooting out of the gully for sound redirection, or into it.

Good backdrop in either direction, would have to shoot 30 degrees off target for it to go in a risky direction.
