Chinese warships Sydney harbour - protected with full autos

Post by TassieTiger » 07 Jun 2019, 9:30 am

Without going into why China’s warships are in Sydney / gone now and the historical similarities with USA over a hundred years ago - many of the Chinese sailors were witnessed off the boat, strutting around the shore area (near the boat) with full autos around their neck - without knowing maritime laws not how they apply to visiting war ships, I wonder - would these sailors be in breech of Aust firearm laws?

They would be on navy property. I should think our laws would not apply.
Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. Better to load on the mild side. :o The greatest invention in the history of man is beer. :drinks: "Often the written message doesn't convey all of the information"

I worked at Garden island in Sydney for 10 years from early 70s to 80s.
Most foreign country's when they are in port have armed guards on the dock and at the top of the gangway French, japan, Indonesian ,Dutch and British the worst ones were the USA they were arrogant with it most of the other we used to think had arms but maybe not loaded ( ceremonial guards ) not the Yanks one up the spout .
they used to set up a inspection table 3 officers pay masters I think 1 NCO used to inspect them if ok proceed to table ( if not back to ship fixed what ever it was Even haircut was checked then back on line may be 100 meters long line ) get pass get pay and away they had armed guards at that table too
