"glock style"

Post by alexjones » 20 May 2025, 1:24 pm

Can someone please explain to me what a "glock style" handgun is? Is it a glock or is it not a glock? Is this a term for any polymer frame or striker fired handgun? I know AR15 style is a term because colt owns the pattern to ar15 but I have not heard this term before.

Moments later, a silver hatchback parks across the driveway and a hooded male dressed in all black exits the rear driver’s side door armed with a small Glock-style hand gun.

Saw these results on "AL overview" (whatever that is) S&W M&P, Ruger RXM, Walther PPQ, Canik TP9 are apparently classed as
a "glock" style or similar. Go figure. That is why I like revolvers.

Could be. Colt is apparently easier to say than Smith & Wesson, I guess.

It's a cheap, plastic handgun made to the lowest price, isn't it?

A mate showed me her issue-Glock .40 the other day, first thing I noticed after dropping the mag and unloading it, was the frame -
Forward from the trigger guard, the plastic of the frame under the slide had a noticeable twist sideways and downwards, and the cheap double-sided steel catches that allow disassembly were easily obvious to be sitting at different heights.
She reckons this is quite common amongst her fellow cops Glocks.
The pistol was unaffected function-wise, but just looked like it really was, a cheap, simple handgun designed to win contracts for police and military because it can undercut other more refined and better made handguns. With a trigger pull like a 40 year old Chinese air rifle.

I know people love them, because the old human trait of being offended if anyone questions whatever reason they bought what they did. If they had any other reason to follow the BS and the crowd.

One of my mates, who is an ex copper, described them as "unfantastic plastic". Maybe that just about sums them up. But as I stated
earlier, there are better made "look alikes" around.

haha pretty good summation although that might be insulting the 40 year old chinese air rifle. I wouldn't pay for one but they're light and reliable with some good safety features and thrive on abuse. The magazines can sit fully loaded for 25+ years and still feed without issue.
