Victorian Government Appoints Ken Lay to Look at the Laws

Post by mchughcb » 23 Dec 2025, 9:44 pm

This is very interesting.

1. Nothing is going to be done in haste.
2. Ken is old school and he's probably still annoyed his 35 years as a traffic cop was blemished by an unmarked speed camera in NSW in his last year.
3. Ken will be having consultation with the SSAA, FG, ADA and all the other stakeholders.
4. If this goes on long enough it will hit election time for Vic and QLD and nobody is going to put their marginal seats at risk.

Very good question. Ken is from the korumburra where I've done a bit of fox hunting.

I'll have to do some research to find out as he's obviously coming out retirement at 69.

He was a good police commissioner. Impressive career and a good listener.
There are websites that hold bad police accountable. Which I won’t link.
They don’t have a bad thing to say about him. In fact they give him praise.

NSW has fallen. Very badly. It sets a precedent. It sets an example . We won’t get out of this unscathed. It’s going to hurt.

I'd like to know what the SSAA ACT is doing as I haven't heard a peep from them. ACT tend to fall inline with big brother NSW and follow suit, but Im not waiting. I've written to my State member, my Federal member, The Police minister and the Shadow chief minister.

No parliamentary petition either.

Heard a little whisper yes I know there's lots of them going around this one's from a reliable person Jacinta Alan has already got half of it already drawn up and yes the bad news is it is literally the same as new south .
as elbow said it'll be same right across the country by the time he's finished federal firearms laws by stealth betcha we don't get a federal license so we can go wherever we want with no hassles

Well I also heard Vic is going to hold off as long as they can in the review as they are looking at the election in 10 months.
