A good bit of info on NSW firearms law changes for '26

I came across this video this morning put out by a gunshop in NSW, I found it both informative and terribly sad too.

I must say this, I place this squarely on Minns, who I find to be a reactive, knee-jerking and frightened little man who is blaming NSW residents for his own failures in leadership, and covering for his socialist federal counterparts' obsession of achieving disarmament of the people who made our country so great.
A little man in my eyes, and I reserve the right to say so no matter what some misguided people think.

One thing though, regarding lever action rifles, magazine capacity of greater than 10 will be a no go. I know a guy who has a Henry .22
lever action with a magazine capacity of 12 and it is apparently destined to be in the buy back. Makes no sense when you can have an 8 shot 357 lever action and that apparently falls into the "ok" capacity of these new laws. An 8 shot .357 lever gun can do far more damage (imo) than a 12 shot lever 22. Buggered if I know.

According to the letter of the law, a BB gun with a magazine capacity of more than 10 rounds would also be prohibited.

so that makes even less sense.

Although i dont agree with the changes,
But it really had me stuffed how they could put pump shotguns in C/D cat after port Arthur ,but still allow all these straight pull button release shotguns and rifles to stay in cat A/B
i wasn't complaining i own 1 of these ,,but it really goes to show the powers that be’s ignorance and lack of knowledge on firearms
Unfortunately it was only a matter of time before these caught their attention though

This whole straight pull, pump action, thing is a complete lie. Any rifle can be fired extremely quickly with practice. A bet a lot of soldiers using 303’s and Mausers got very quick during WW2.

In 1996 straight pulls were rare and button release did not exist.

I often said to friends how can this be ok when pumps and autos were restricted for their fast repeating shot capabilities?
The thing with registry and police ,they have no F ing idea or care till s**t hits the fan then this happens

You are right but it takes a fair bit of practice to,with straight pulls and button release any clown can be fairly quick with one
Like I said I’m not for this at all ,,but if you ever thought these wouldn’t come under scrutiny one day you were kidding yourself

Oh I reckon they do monitor stuff. Its just that poltically polticians are reactionary. They wait for something to happen so they can ban it and look like they saved the day.

Governments need bad things to happen so the sheep think they need to give the government more power to protect them.

You are right there Tuknal. I've been waiting for this to happen, my view always was though that like Alex said, the weak politicians we've been forced to endure will wait patiently until there is another lunatic event, and act then.
It's straight from the socialist playbook (whether they're right or left, just reacting to either what they see as populist vote opportunities (conservatives) or to ban guns from average people (communist/socialist scum).
That way, there's a reason they can give that's emotive, to get the majority on side.
If they did it without an emotional event, nobody would support them.

Well the first time I picked up a Sauer 505 it was super easy to cycle quickly. I reckon there are a stack of firearms that any clown can learn to cycle quickly.
As for not seeing this coming…well 18 months ago I had 11 firearms. I had a gut feeling it was only a matter of time before restrictions on the number of firearms would be forced on us. Just like in Europe. I sold seven of them in the last 18 months and am down to four firearms. I also made sure I kept two lightweight drillings, mainly because of their multi caliber versatility.
I will give you a heads up on something that is coming…
Single shot rifles and shotgun will be banned…

Hindsight is a beautiful thing isn’t it…
