Road Runners becoming regular and wrecking it for you all

Post by Wapiti » 20 Apr 2026, 7:17 am

Had a barrage of texts and a few calls last night, seems that some grubs were running up and down Red Hill Rd out our way again last night.
Two utes spotlighting off the road, and running in and out of old Dan's property on the big unfenced paddocks on the north of his joint.
Dan lost his wife and cannot defend himself, and has had his firearms taken from him by police from doing this in the past, against trespassers in desperation because the police never attend.

Prior to this and coincidentally, we hosted some friends from town for lunch, the wife being 2IC of the local (edit: removed). We were discussing how their 5500 acre cropping property west of Warwick is being constantly over-run by a local crime family who seem to have some connections so nothing is ever done. Long story but there have even been death threats from gun toting meth heads.
So as usual, I wasn't looking at my phone during the day only later to find missed texts and calls telling me that at 10am Sunday one of these utes was down the road creek crossing, poking rifles through the fence mesh and shooting into our place. When the neighbour stopped and had some words, they told him to f**k off or he'd be bashed and they'd "drop a match" on his fenceline, this was in front of his wife and daughters.
I believe one of them was from this mob and has been texting me to get access because he is a man to be trusted, a "bowhunter". This I will be investigating.

And right now, prompting me to post this up, the juvenile chatter on the UHF from these dogs going on about losing arrows in animals and just discussing "fill it full of lead instead" is pathetic. Can you imagine the thoughts in my head?

If any of you hear fellow "hunters" (really only "shooters") that you might know that think this is OK behaviour, or are involved with others who do this kind of thing and then are just as bad, you might remind them that this is why farmers are continuing to just stop giving access to anyone any more, and when they see politicians coming down on city gun owners, will not support them either.

And some of you might think, so what, well see how you like it if someone was in your suburban yard or out the front shooting firearms at your animals.
See how this affects your views on people who tell you to trust them with access.

That sucks mate.

In your opinion, what should you be able to do to tresspassers on your property (armed or otherwise) when the police aren't showing up to do their job?

I keep hearing news reports from down south, where these mongos are arrested, their gear confiscated and the judge takes their gun license away.
Does this happen in Qld?
We wouldn't know, because yet again I've had neighbours ringing me this morning with pics, rego numbers and witness statements to police here, and absolutely no interest. Why is this?
I know exactly why. Visitors yesterday here for lunch are up there in politics officially and law enforcement is non existent, and politicians have no say in it.
They have phone video of trespassers saying that they are coming back to kill them, and nothing has been done. I saw it with my own eyes.
I could never insinuate here what the issue is.

But your question? What would I want? Something I won't get.
So, the only thing a lot of people who run farming businesses can now do, is ban the potential problem makers entirely. Because in every case out here, those screwing it up for everyone else legally hold firearms licences, but go out and selfishly keep doing illegal activities and making people HATE them. And so many of you get all bent out of shape when something happens politically firearms-wise, and farmers go, good. Take them off people who don't need them as tools for their daily income, and these stressful situations will be cut by 99%.

Hence my thread title, others screwing it up for those who do the right thing - respectful people.

ya know , it could be kicking a hornets nest , get someone to dump the phone footage of death threats online , ring mainstream media with all the evidence you can gather , including contacting the coppers with no result , and turn it into a big , embarrassing news story . on the negatives it could result in extreme animosity with the people involved and the local cops . not good if you want to keep living there . bloody damned if ya do , damned if ya don't

Problem some have, is that all coppers are not the same unfortunately.
The politicians are of two camps:
The last mob told the police to give gun owners a hard time with permits, licensing and numbers of guns that weren't in the current laws, or
This mob, who are just told what they want to hear whilst the rorts go on, hidden amongst all the rest of the clusterf*cks going on by public servants.

On the coppers and doing the job people expect - some will be sticklers for the law and just dying to come down on people abusing firearms. And get that Sergeant payrise real fast. That would fix our dramas, and many others too, and leave the good shooters to be the ones to benefit.
Unfortunately, there are always some people who when given a uniform, use it to do whatever they can get away with. And the rest of us are supposed to shine their shoes. That's all I'll say about that.
