Still no charges laid.

One point of interest for me is that he's actually painted the Nissan 2 times, from white to blue then khaki.

And still no charges.
And still in custody.

G'day,

Headline from that source of unbiased, city-centric news [The Age] this morning:

"Man arrested over campers’ disappearance owns firearms"

There you have it: ownership of firearms surely makes him a criminal without a doubt - not! What pathetic alarmist reporting.

Perhaps they got a confession?

Outstanding police work, they never sleep, have amazing resources and very deep pockets thanks to speeding motorists. :drinks:

They also have insane surveillance powers and we have zero rights to privacy.
After 3 days i think most people probably do confess.
This bloke just dose’nt seem like the right fit.
A commercial pilot would have very sound mental health and that would be monitored by his employer.
The firearms licences he holds would suggest a squeaky clean history and impeccable character.
I hope they’ve got a solid case against him

I guess we soon find out what sort of case they have against him. This IS getting very interesting.

What I find interesting is the lack of bail application, remanded in custody until the end of May for Mention, the Prosecution case must be immense if the Defense does not feel a bail application is warranted given the huge time on remand or a decision by Lynn and his lawyer not to contest has already been made. Next year we'll find out.

"What I find interesting is the lack of bail application, ..."

It was reported on the TV news last night that bail in a murder case such as this may only be granted by the Victorian Supreme Court.

So it’s accepted practice to label hunters as “bloodthirsty”?
All part of the push to demonise hunters and gun owners
Once this language is normalised we’re done for

How much of this is correct?

1. A person has been charged with murder
2. It appears the person was a licensed firearm owner.

Was speaking to a farmer on the weekend who is in the know. Old bloke was not the friendliest of people and the police theory that an altercation broke out at the camp-site might prove true. Maybe old mate is holding out on the bodies until a plea deal is reached. Poor old duck was caught up in it.

Remember that pilot in I believe Germany who crashed the plane intentionally because he wanted to kill everyone? The missing Mtaylasia plane may of also been intentional pilot error. Not all pilots have good mental health as they are only human and can change overtime.

Edit: Wow, sucide by pilot is an actual thing with several known cases. Imagine being a passenger in a plane and placing trust in the pilot who is a complete stranger.

Getting into a plane with a Pilot who is a complete stranger is exactly what hundreds of thousands of people do every day, good airlines have many procedures to identify problem crew but a lot of smaller airlines don't. But even the majors like AA, Qantas etc can't stop everyone. Same risk as a cabbie or the bloke next to you at the range or in the field, C'est la Vie.

Plenty. They set up opposite a slip. Glass all day until a deer they want comes out in the open then run their ballistics calc and let them rip. They are using pretty special rigs and are generally 338 calibres and above. It is quite specialised and they spend hours and dollars practicing.

The energy at that range is still more than a 308 at 100.

I knew two deer shooters that built rigs specifically for 700m+, that's what does it for them, and they seemed to do just fine with that style of shooting (as well as stalking). But I don't consider it to be hunting, it's just sitting and waiting, and then taking the perfect shot when the conditions are ideal. But they only get one shot, so no warming up or walking your shots onto the target. I can certainly appreciate the skill in the shooting, but I think it is enormously unfair on the animal to deliberately add the extra risks of a poor hit due to anything that might happen in the seconds between launch and impact. I have seen guys say that whatever might happen during that period is out of their hands, thus not their fault - I disagree with that. Getting a gut shot, or crippling the animal is absolutely on the shooter, exactly as it would be if a stalker stepped into the path of your bullet 10m in front of your deer, after you pull the trigger.

One of these guys told me about the awesome rig he had custom built and imported from the US, and the time and money he put into load development. By the time he thought he had the right load, the rifle wouldn't group any more. Turned out he'd burned the barrel out getting the load sorted. He rebarrelled to 7x57mm and sold it.

I agree blade racer. It just isn't cricket.

Next it will be lazer guided bazookas at 1000 Mtrs. I mean hunting is called a "sport" for a reason. Your meant to give the animal a sporting chance.
