One point of interest for me is that he's actually painted the Nissan 2 times, from white to blue then khaki.

Still no bodies.

This bloke just dose’nt seem like the right fit.
A commercial pilot would have very sound mental health and that would be monitored by his employer.
The firearms licences he holds would suggest a squeaky clean history and impeccable character.
I hope they’ve got a solid case against him

“The area is notorious for blood-thirsty hunters who often use thermal imaging with their high-powered rifles to shoot at prey from as far away as 800 metres”.
So it’s accepted practice to label hunters as “bloodthirsty”?
All part of the push to demonise hunters and gun owners
Once this language is normalised we’re done for

Plenty. They set up opposite a slip. Glass all day until a deer they want comes out in the open then run their ballistics calc and let them rip. They are using pretty special rigs and are generally 338 calibres and above. It is quite specialised and they spend hours and dollars practicing.
The energy at that range is still more than a 308 at 100.

I knew two deer shooters that built rigs specifically for 700m+, that's what does it for them, and they seemed to do just fine with that style of shooting (as well as stalking). But I don't consider it to be hunting, it's just sitting and waiting, and then taking the perfect shot when the conditions are ideal. But they only get one shot, so no warming up or walking your shots onto the target. I can certainly appreciate the skill in the shooting, but I think it is enormously unfair on the animal to deliberately add the extra risks of a poor hit due to anything that might happen in the seconds between launch and impact. I have seen guys say that whatever might happen during that period is out of their hands, thus not their fault - I disagree with that. Getting a gut shot, or crippling the animal is absolutely on the shooter, exactly as it would be if a stalker stepped into the path of your bullet 10m in front of your deer, after you pull the trigger.
One of these guys told me about the awesome rig he had custom built and imported from the US, and the time and money he put into load development. By the time he thought he had the right load, the rifle wouldn't group any more. Turned out he'd burned the barrel out getting the load sorted. He rebarrelled to 7x57mm and sold it.
