bugs me the lack of interest in the 'decades old events' being the largest gun rights battle in Australias history and how it went down. . Thats what should be taught during getting a licence, not how to climb over a barb wire fence with a gun.

. People actually dont realise how many gun types were on the table to go, the Anti;s were pushing for everything. What we have left is the ground that was won.

I would say in all, the responses by gun writers was underwhelming at the time, and also certain industry majors too.A friend of mine took one of our noted gun writers on in debate actually. He is part of the reason you fellas still have a variety of gun types left, not just 2 shot bolt actions. Thats all hearsay too, no smartphones back then to record all the crap that went on to keep guns available to you 'decades'; later.

A few of Nick's quotes.

I liked these:

“Few handloaders seem to realise that they are straining their rifle and shortening case life in order to squeeze an extra 100fps out of their reloads to gain one inch less drop at 300 yards.” — Practical Reloading, January 2018.

"Anyone can poke a rifle out the window of his pick-up and shoot a semi-tame deer in a game ranch, but taking a representative head in the wild is a lot more challenging.” — On hunting red stags, September 1992.

Give the game a fair go and kill it cleanly using an adequate calibre. Be over-gunned rather than under-gunned.” — Circa 1960s in his own letter to the editor.

"The secret of successful trophy hunting is cultivating patience. Patience to move slowly; patience to sit quietly and wait; patience to hunt carefully for days on end, even to go weeks without firing a shot.” — On deer stalking, May 2020.
The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.
