Australia's vegan lie revealed: How plant-based diets still result in hundreds of thousands of animal deaths a year because they're collateral damage from modern farming.

Collydean farm (not it's real name) is a 2,700 hectare farm in northern Tasmania produces about 400 tonnes of peas per season.
While there are wildlife fences in place to protect the crops, the farmers also have licenses to shoot animals that get through the fences.
Mr Evans said that while he was there, they were allowed to kill at least 150 deer, and annually kill 800-1,000 possums and 500 wallabies, as well as ducks.

'More than 1,500 animals die each year to grow about 75 hectares of peas for our freezers. That's not 1,500 rodents, which also die, and which some may see as collateral damage,' Mr Evans wrote.
'That's mostly warm-blooded animals of the cute kind, with a few birds thrown in.'
Mr Evans said the owners of the farm convinced him it's not financially viable to grow peas without controlling the pests.

Producing one kilogram of protein from wheat, a common crop in Australia, kills roughly 25 times more creatures than producing a kilogram beef protein.
Mike Archer, a science professor at the University of NSW, Mike Archer, explains that monocultures, mice plagues and modern farming systems kill off thousands of small animals just to product wheat.
While most of them are rodents, Mr Evans questioned why not all 'warm-blooded life' isn't honoured equally in the vegan world.
In the five years leading up to 2013, New South Wales rice farmers killed almost 200,000 native ducks in order to protect their fields.
'That's how farming works. To grow something, other things are affected. Sometimes it's an animal, sometimes it's a helluva lot of animals,' Mr Evans wrote.
Mr Evans also admitted that on his own property, Fat Pig Farm, up to 5,000 moths, snails and slugs are killed in order to protect the gardens.

Insects are often the most killed off animal due to vegetable production, with the most exploited being the European honeybee.
While many vegans don't eat honey because it utilises the honeybee, Mr Evans explains that honeybees are the best pollinators for producing fruit.
Mr Evans explains that everyone eats about 0.5-1kg of flies, maggots and other bugs per year, hidden in chocolate, grains and peanut butter.

What a great read and a kick in the nuts for all the vegan animal activists out there.
I’ve got no problem with anyone who don’t eat meat as strange as it is to me but that’s there choice like mine is to hunt and eat meat. But when the vegans get hold of this there going to be all over animal control. And that’s all we need as meat eating hunters

Rodents, reptiles and bitey insect beasties hiding in the crops are not cuddly. Vegans and their equally emotionally needy and looney animal liberation socialist mates like cuddly animals like Bambi. Every year I cut hay on my property and every year I find decapitated ducklings, wading birds and hares - the mower blades don't care what they cut and the urban fools simply don't want to know lest they be confronted by actual facts and the reality of living and surviving on Earth.

How many Roos, pigs,fuitbats etc get shot trapped or poisoned every night in Australia to protect crops so vegans can eat ? Mostly no one thinks about it. Even if a vegan was giving me a hard time I don’t think I could tell them. They would be just devestated ...... and if they then chose not to eat greens anymore they would starve .... there must be some that give up on their original plans , and decide stuff it let’s have steak tonight

There was one cyclist idiot with VEGAN in large print on the back of his Lycra cycling leotard who was on YouTube having a go at a motorist, look up Issac Butterfield cyclist or Issac Butterfield vegan on YouTube for a laugh.

I would not condone dangerous driving just to scare the guy or any other cyclist but seeing how the rest of the general public don't like cyclists much and vegans probably even less, I just reckon he's daring some a-hole to skittle him.

Regarding running over cyclists......Not bagging women but their spacial awareness is very poor ....I really don’t think they know where the left hand side of their car is ...when they steer wide around a cyclist to avoid hitting them I think they are sort of hoping for the best that they don’t hit them ........keep way left cyclists If you want to live. Men cause accidents too by being aggressive and stupid.
