you're spot on ziege. The approach we have right now is to basically scare the crap out of everyone and lock things down, not considering that while you save some people's lives you take others through mental illness and reducing available health care, and ruin the lives of many others by destroying their livelihood.

Fair enough, at the beginning governments panic and lock everything down because not enough is understood. Now, however, it is very clear that there are certain people who are more vulnerable than others, and the priority should be protecting those people while allowing others to start getting back to normal. Yeah, you'll have the virus spread, but you can protect people at the same time. There is no guarantee that a vaccine will even work, there is no effective coronavirus vaccine and the flu vaccine is at best 40-60% effective, but it's hard to determine (I never get flu shots, and never get the flu; if i got flu shots and never get the flu was the vaccine effective, or would I have not got the flu regardless?). Where's any discussion of boosting your own immune system to help deal with not just Covid, but any diseases?

Instead what we have is complete overreaction, and constant news trying to scare people. There's an article this morning saying if you think you have the flu you probably have Covid. Really? Does the flu not exist now, or is the media happy to scare people to get more 'clicks'? Yesterday the City of Sydney LGA was put on the 'hotspot' list; seriously, because of a relative handful of cases in the east you put the whole LGA on the list? Now more CBD workers are panicking and dont want to go into the office, which again means less customers for those small businesses in the city that are already being crushed. Is that really a good outcome?

Sadly there seems to be no ability within government to understand what is going on and react appropriately. There is a price to be paid for all of this, we shouldn't pretend otherwise.

Remember when Lisa Neville announced sale bans of ammo and guns due to corona virus. Few of my friends were laid off. What was that about? Remember the owners were taking them to court and just a day before the court they reinstated their ability to trade in guns and ammo. How many cases of community transmission have we had from local gun shops based on the medical advice?

not that it was enlightening really, everything on it has been reported before by several different leaning sources,
and all of them, all of them have said the same thing, all of them

now we wait for the inquiry's reports, but we know what that is going to conclude dont we :wtf:

so nobody watched the show or the report didn't say what you wanted to hear :unknown:

it makes this thread look like its more about personal opinions being right than what is actually going on

it is still an amazing thing that nobody is dying from influenza anymore, go figure :unknown:

Thanks just watched it. What I have taken away from that is that the people caring for the old people stopped turning up, not because they had the virus but because the fear of getting the virus to the point, hardly anybody turned up. That's interesting in itself of how much fear the media had whipped up. If a person is still healthy and not much chance of having a bad reaction then they if they weren't in so much fear they may have turned up, residents may have not been in squalid conditions infecting everybody else.

That girl was told she was negative, positive and negative again? WTF?

that's right Chuck

the answer to my question that flyer hasn't answered is "The most common symptom of Covid19 is that you feel FINE"
CCP virus, the only virus where you have to test healthy people to convince them that they are sick
they are saying that 80% of people with covid have mild or no symptoms

but the government only want to test you if you are showing symptoms of flu, just an observation

Not amazing at all. Very predictable. If you apply strategies within society to reduce the spread of a virus naturally those strategies will reduce other viruses. purely logical.

Don't be surprised if other diseases, bacterial or viruses that are normally spread in a similar way to covod are reduced also. Pretty simple really.

Thank you MM. It's good to see someone down there finally mention false positives.
I'll wager that those false positives are still in the tally when the numbers are reported each morning.

I watched it. Not easy to watch. Disgusting really. Never seen so much incompetence since I left work today.
That government needs to clean house Saddam Husain style.
But apparently they have no system of accountability whatsoever. Because nobody knows whose in charge of what.
I would support public ritual suicides, if that’s an option that could be put to them.

And now it’s time for a more lighthearted interlude. We can all clap along. Enjoy.

Is there anything else that was predictable because there seem to be genuine surprise on the look of Sutton when he said that influenza was down 300% this year?

A Gov/heath dept in panic mode will lower the threshold on the RNA loading on the tests hoping to detect the virus earlier so as to iso the infected before they have a chance to pass it on. This then allows the flu virus to be mistakening dianosed as covid 19, both are corana viruses and both have the same base RNA.

Word from SCOMO this morning; all australians will be vacinated against cov 19 for free by Dec/Jan, with a vacine being produced here in Aust by an Aust lab and Oxford Uni in the UK.

One case of CCP virus in QLD overnite, eight cases of influ last week, yet our excuse for a chief health officer says this morning that if you have flu like syptoms you are more than likely to have Cov 19. Hope she never gets sprung spending public money at a casino if she believes in those odds.

In order to be vaccine ready by Dec - surely, they must have 100% successes within trials, right now ?

Do these numbers (22 million, 800k deaths) look ball park correct? If so, 4% fatality rate world wide is significantly higher than I thought..

I have a large grain of salt I can send you, you'll need it to believe anything WHO says. these days.
There are three vacines that have or are just starting stage 3 testing here in Aust ATM. Stage 3 is testing the vacine on a large selection of the general population. The GC Uni is right now calling for volunteers for stage 3 testing of the vacine they have been developing. Yesterday, China was granted the worlds first patient on a vacine, but who in there right mind would want one from them?
