Two that come to my mind readily. Plus we need a ship or two to keep the illegal migrant boats away.

Where are you going to base the bloody m1 abraham tanks, and the IFVs or the mobile artillery. Let's say you put some near every capital city. So if China attacks you have 5 assets trying to defend and the rest on their way....

Cuz if you keep majority in one city...say sydney, if the attack happens in Darwin good luck trying to get the convoy before the war is already over... even Melbourne or Brisbane being 10hr plus would likely mean the war is over before the reinforcements get there.
