"Sudden death, Coorparoo
myPolice on May 28, 2021 @ 8:12pm
A boy has died after suffering from a gunshot wound at Coorparoo this evening.

Around 5pm, police were called to parkland off Deshon Street at Coorparoo where a 16-year-old was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police and paramedics rendered first aid. He died on scene a short time later.

Early investigations suggest the boy’s death is not suspicious, however a crime scene has been established to fully understand the circumstances surrounding his death.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity at the time around Deshon Street, Turbo Street, Noman Street or Withington Street, is encouraged to come forward.

Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage in the same area between 4pm and 5pm, is also encouraged to contact police."

As usual, no real details are given, "not suspicious" generally means suicide but no mention of whether he held a minors license and had access to a registered firearm.

In Queensland if over 11 but under 18 you can use firearms without a licence but you must be supervised by a licensed adult. Maybe they were training and something went wrong? Who knows. Very sad indeed.

mmm, doubt a inner city park in brisbane is a good place for handgun training .

maybe sounds like a wanna-be gangster accidently shot himself cause he had a loaded pistol stuffed in his pants .

if it was a suicide that's just tragic that they couldn't get help or support

I don't profess to know the area so maybe I am way off. Its annoying when they don't post much information so all we can do is speculate I suppose.
