Suicide or nefarious plot averted?

Post by Communism_Is_Cancer » 25 Jan 2022, 9:31 am

A former Australian army soldier has died after a homemade explosive vest detonated inside his car as he was driving in Melbourne. I am interested to know if this was suicide or the man was on his way to cause harm to others.

Wearing a vest will kill you even if you intend harm to others, so suicide is guaranteed. Such an extremely small explosian would cause minimal harm unless you were almost hugging them, so either suicide alone was the intent but perhaps in a public place to call attention to percieved grievance or the speed hump caused the igniton charge only to detonate but the main charge failed.

Either way a bizarre and unfortunate situation but nothing surprises me anymore. A few years ago a bloke working for Rio Tinto blast crew in WA died via suicide with explosives. Sat in the land cruiser and blew himself up and the roof off the cruiser. I believe that situation does not count as a workplace death because it was suicide not an accident so Rio was not held liable.
