Senator-Elect for gun control repeals

Post by Vati » 04 Jun 2014, 8:39 am

What do you know. There is a senator on our side for a change :D

Knocked out a few bits irrelevant for here, but read on.

New Senator attacks National Party

Senator-elect David Leyonhjelm has delivered a scathing attack on the National Party, and declared himself an alternative voice for Australian farmers.

...

Mr Leyonhjelm also wants more relaxed firearm laws in Australia, to give people access to weapons for self-defense.

'We are not permitted to have anything at all; guns, knives, pepper sprays, mace, for personal self-defence.

'It's an abomination.'

...

In relation to firearms, David Leyonhjelm says he has foxes, cats, and rabbits on his farm and sees it as his 'environmental duty to shoot them if I happen to get the opportunity.'

'I can't see much point in the endless regulations, registrations of firearms and high hurdles that licensed firearm owners have to adhere to.'

He's keen to push for greater access to weapons for self-defence.

'We have a legal right to self-defence, we have no legal right to the means of self-defence.

'Unless you're a strong man or you're just lucky and happen to have a stick or something handy, if you're attacked, you're out of luck.'

I'm not sure what he's going to repeal, apart from the fact that he is only one in a sea of gun-grabbers... the main Commonwealth law that related to LAFO is Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956, maybe he can fight to rid us of the need for state approval to import non-controlled(by state) gun related bits...

He should just send them off to that magical farm where they don't kill native wildlife or consume all the vegetation.

The Greens have got that off the ground now right... Oh...

Of course the more the better, but unfortunately, all you need to do is mention guns, mention rights to self defence and as has occurred with this Senator in waiting.... you're labelled a gun-nut red neck seeker-of-american-gun-culture and oooooh we dont want that here!!

The only way to get some positive gun policy from the feds is for the pro-gunners to march on parliament and take the joint over.... and that aint gonna happen any time soon

I do get what you mean.

Just need a few more bums in seats on our side so it's not a minority.

So that's, erm, one

come on guys, Pessimistic attitudes only attract that which we don't want.
Positive attitudes increase the likely hood that positive things will happen for us.

so keep your head high and visualize the good stuff ;)

I think David is pretty good,he has a degree in veterinary science, a Bachelor of Laws and a Masters of business administration so his academic credentials are excellent, he has won comps in small bore pistol shooting, he had to hand in his AR15 and FN FAL back in 1996, he does his own reloading.

The more i find out about David the better it gets, with others it can be the opposite.

That's great news.

Im more than sure that there are other people in government that are gun owners, collectors, sporting shooters ecg.

Things are looking up, I see the latest news in the SSAA is a 10% rise in membership... That's 10% more money to fight for our cause.

Lets hope more people in government stand up for what's fair and right.

This may stir.

Put up your hand, those who can't have the gun they want. i.e AR15.

Give the reasons why you want it?

Because I want it doesn't qualify... remind me why this rule is so bad?
Now that's been said, who's coming for a shot?

I would like an Ar-15 ( or just a semi auto in general ) to be able to put another shot into an animal if I made a bad shot and have that momentary unsureness as to wether it's really down or not and I don't have time to cycle the bolt before the animal makes a run into cover. I hate to see and animal suffering and I think that having a semi auto could help to negate this. That's just my 2c :)

U just need to pick up a 3rd of the seats that is what you need to derail a agenda because you will find the other minority group will start looking for common ground and start looking your way you no the saying a friend in need is a friend in deed.

The problem in Aus is we a minority group mate.

Getting a 3rd of anything politically down here is easier said than done.
