I've always thought including that line on the bottom of ads was a bizarre move.

Everyone's apparently for equality, but they won't stop highlighting difference races as being 'encouraged' to do something.

It's condescending IMO, like encouraging a kid to do something they're afraid of - jump it the pool, it won't hurt you! - as if not writing it would imply they are not welcome to apply.

Am I the only one that thinks we should stop making a huge of this stuff and let everyone just get on with it?

Imagine if the person who does obtain this position, is a gun nut and is a force within?

That would be a golden moment for us NSW gun owners.

Neither am I a racist... I'm an equal opportunity discriminator :D

But yes, this kind of crap does them no favours... it gets the non-indigenous (that sound offensive in itself) riled up, just as I get when I see it, asking questions like why? Its just like the womens libbers jumping on the quota for women bandwagon... NO. just plain wrong, everyone needs to be judged equally. If its physical work that only a person of a certain build may accomplish, then f*** me if evolution hasnt swayed the advantage to the male side of humanity....(not that ALL women are weaker than ALL men of course).

The Missers noted an advertisement for a staff role at a (THE) prestigious Melbourne located university..... It actually stated that ONLY A/TSI need apply. She queried the add and was told that they had a EXEMPTION under the Equal opportunity legislation.

An exemption. FFS.

The reverse racism is exempted.

Would you EVER see an add stating that only those of white European heritage need apply? the hypocrisy is astounding.

Imaging putting "African Americans are encouraged to apply" on a job ad in the USA.

What a PC s**t storm that would kick off.

There is no racism or selective proses in selecting workers. I am surprised more is not made of the total and absolute disregard of WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant ) principal when ALL Chinese, and Vietnamese restaurants, to name a few, all their staff is of that nationality, their English skills are usually pathetic, half their customers are westerners, always served, I say again, all are served by nationalities other than us, why. I note that small restaurants never advertise, they fill staff from their own countries or cultures, westerners just don't get a look in. Hence as the restaurants don't advertise, they are not breaking any laws. Yet many restaurants in other areas, Greek, Italian, etc all other nationalities will employ anyone who can do the job.

Having seen quite a few incidents over the years, and a few directed at myself during the course of employment, I have very little regard for 99% of martial artists.

I am more wary of top notch boxers or someone that plain just wants to kill me, has the attitude(95% of people don't) and whom is sober or on certain drugs. Kick boxers are very vulnerable.

From what a US friend tells me their discrimination laws are all over the place.

The example I remember is if you're a publicly listed company you can't discriminate based on sexuality. If you're a private company you can.

It's not expressly allowed obviously but it's not prohibited either. Apparently they can straight up say 'you don't get the job because you're X' and there are no repercussions for that.

Keeping intolerance alive and well.
