I actually don't think many (relatively speaking) would go out and purchase for self defence, and less for CC.

Just not in our culture as much as elsewhere I don't think.

I probably would for home? Get something suitable that is. Not for carry though.

Guess it's all speculation on our part. However if you get a few assaults and murders occurring, a few standoffs like Martin Place happening, the media running a scare terrorism campaign the number will grow. Still think with a population of over 10-12 million in the right age bracket, a few news articles on bashings and robbery and if only 1 or 2 % turn up, its a large number at 1% =100,000.
