I did, plus donate $30 per month via direct debit, but, all I see is constant negative press about Mr Borsak (that photo of him and the elephant is wheeled out regularly, like the McGrath one will for eons to come).

Having harsh words in parliament is one thing, but, changing the public's perception needs that media trick of "constant positive reinforcement" which would cost a fair amount of money (TV advertising isn't cheap).

As I say, I fear that our numbers aren't there, in that, there might be 600,000 licensed individuals, but getting 600,000 to collectively think about one topic (keeping whats left of our rights) might be a difficult task.

Again, I acknowledge the work that's being done behind the scenes (whenever I receive a copy of the Amateur Pistol Association magazine, editorial always has news of a range having problems with FAR inspections or the work that the working committee has on hand with meetings etc), but, 600,000 people aren't being organised into a collective effort.

I really hope that I am wrong, but, I've see a lot of "elitist" type behaviour over the years, with divisions created, with the owning of firearms. That's the heart of our problems with lobby's etc.

Shot-gunners who aren't interested in pistol shooting don't particularly care for the future of pistol shooters, those who target shoot don't care about hunting and vice versa. I have seen and heard comments at the range. Who cares if you own a tactical rifle? See the look on some faces - more so the older one's (no offence meant, but, its true). As long as your safe and having fun, who cares what you shoot? Some people really get upset.

Having ALL firearms owners care about each other's (no group hugs needed) interest is whats needed.

I have no interest in shooting a .22 one handed for 5 shots over 5 mins, but, I don't want those people to lose their semi auto's. If they do, then rest assured that its the beginning of the end of firearms as we know it. Look at the changes forced on us over the years (I mean more restrictions, more permits and fees needed and loss of ranges).

Off to the range now.

No worries Wylie, there are a few diff groups out there already that do the lobbying side of things from my understanding, it wouldn't hurt if they were under one umbrella so to speak, but doubt it would happen. :unknown:

United is the key.

This business of people just arguing for their discipline and CBF with the rest really s**ts me.

Apparently they are coming for straight pull bolt actions to . Makes you wonder what is really happening here. SFP just called out tony Abbott on there Facebook page. Once again everyone is focusing on the greens while the liberals nats and labor bend us over again. We will whinge in whine but do nothing and they will walk all over us . If this gets through how long do you think it will be before they take them all.

You wonder what's really happening? You can't even defend your family. What's happening is a continuation of the same.

And right there is the apathy of the SSAA and shooters in general...

Let others do the work. Guess what Littlejohn that is the reason we are in this mess. Apathetic people like yourself..

I am happy to register a lobby group.. Would you join. Nope you will just continue to lube up and sook about it on Internet forums..

I'm in. I've got plenty of time on my hands and would like to get more involved in getting our sport (hunting, target or collecting) looked upon as a legitimate sport.

Send me a PM with what your thoughts are.

I tried helping with S&F, but, after about 12 phone calls and a few emails, I got no response, despite them asking for volunteers.

At my local polling station, not a S&F person to be seen handing out paperwork. So, I voted Liberal Democratic Party and no longer send my monthly donation to S&F.

I live on the coast which has a lot of people fishing (tourists and locals). My locals aren't impressed with the S&F Party, so, they vote elsewhere also.

I'm not sure that the S&F has the right spokesperson working for them? Might be effective at having a debate, but, it's the minor gun groups (Amateur Pistol Assoc) doing a lot more than the SSAA from what I can see and hear from fellow range groupies.

Admittedly, I do shoot more pistol than rifle, but, I'm still a member of the SSAA and I just don't see enough action on their part.

Lets call it what it is. They're coming for everything.

The mob that are trying to get lever actions reclassified... If that goes through they're not going to feel warm and fuzzy about a job well done and pack up and go home are they.

It's just top of the list as they try to incrementally try ban everything. It's all the same fight just from different angles.

..... of course they are, these guys want a totally dis-armed populace, like the greentards, like want no guns, but will accept as a first step the removal of semi-auto handguns.

Its like Fabian (society) socialism (Juliar Gillard, Gough Whitlam etc etc); one step at a time, slowly but surely their goals will be achieved.

Before PAM these tards where itching for years to find a way to snatch the guns, then totally coincidentally :unknown: their was a mass shooting in the state that various individuals threatened would be the host of such an event... it created the impetus, along with the riding of a huge wave of media generated public sentiment) to sweep in the changes through a plan prepared earlier (NFA)

Note the gun-grabbers hero of the PAM laws, the one who liked to take credit for "saving thousands of lives" was Rebecca Peters.....it just so happens at the time she was sponsored before (and possibly up to this day) by a name possibly familiar to some; George Soros. He/his organisation(s) sponsored her trip to Australia 10 or 15 yrs before PAM... sow the seed so to speak. Of course after her work here was done she departed.
