The fight rages on...

Post by Gun-nut » 19 Feb 2017, 2:41 pm

As many of you may be aware (there's another thread about it on this forum) the National Firearms Agreement for 2017 has been released, introducing even more restrictions on the law abiding. However, this document isn't law binding, as others have stated its just a "wishlist" that the federal government wants the state and territory governments to implement. Meaning it can still be stopped at the state level. Luckily for us however, the state elections are right around the corner-this has the major parties concerned as they are losing ground, fast.

Its up to us now to email our state and federal local members, state premier etc. and remind them that if they try to implement further restrictions on us, they will ultimately lose ground at the state elections. This isn't all however, we all need to motivate all our family and friends to vote for pro-gun parties (SFFP, LDP, ON, KAP etc.) And to put the majors (Liberals and Labour) as well as the Greens LAST on your list of preferences. We have an opportunity now to protect our firearm rights, let's not let it go to waste.

You have to vote in your best interests. I don't know which party to vote for, but this is too important and there are too few of you to cut your nose off to spite your face. When you go to the polls, do your damn job. We are all counting on you.

Emails are great. Put a few questions/issues in there you want them to explain or justify. Call them as followup and ask them to open the email to discuss. Don't let them tick a box and ignore you.

And nobody ever tripped over a bag of emails. Send a letter if you are inclined. Take contact information for your government to your local gun club and your gun shops and put it on 100 fliers and ask if you can leave them to be handed out.

Truth in your Post Gun-nut! Unfortunately those in WA have not enjoyed the same Firearms conditions as the rest of the country and have Now been given another "s**t Sandwich'' not since Germany in the 1930's has the forced confiscation of personal property without compensation been inflicted on Law abiding citizens, yet it is what is going to happen in WA! To any thinking person this type of action is UnAustralian, and most likely Un Constitutional and should be tested at Law! ;) So if someone will go get Lawrence Hammill and Denis Denuto we can do what Darryl Kerrigan did. 8-) :D

8-) ..

Our current federal government will do nothing while we have a nfa in place. (States can't do much. Look at wa still fighting over gst, and thats a simple battle)
Which I can't see happening. Look at same sex marriage they couldn't even get a vote through (it's not the same thing. I'm not trying to start a debate about it either). I'm using it as an example as it's a little out there and the reaction from our government was to ignore it.

I would think we would have more chance with convincing the USA to put pressure/bullied on our government to relax our laws more inline with new Zealand. Would need to be through some threats to stop helping us as our own people cannot defend themselves in the event of a war why should we help you.

The big problem is the media. All they need is to run news stories about gun crime. Doesn't matter if it legal or illegal. If they really want to rub salt they will throw port Arthur in as well.

Unfortunately most none gun owners will be against any change in the laws "they feel safe expecting the government to protect them"

While I agree completely, We have to keep bugging them with letters, emails etc. Then when they back stab us and wonder what went wrong at the last election, we can say "I told you so". No way will they listen to our demands but we have to show that we are as persistent as the anti's.

Never give up folks, and vote wisely these upcoming state/territory elections.

To my fellow cohorts down under. Keep fighting the good fight. We here in the USA withstood relentless attacks on out gun rights during the past administration's reign and dodged the bullet with the past election. Be relentless in your quest to let the truth be know and to hold officials', both elected and appointed, to account for actions and words. YOU are NOT criminals and should not be treated as such!!!

Too many nations on the globe have it where they assume anyone who wishes to own a fire arm is a criminal and that those persons must prove otherwise. This mentality is just out and out WRONG, where it holds the victims as being as being as guilty as the victimizers. For nearly a decade the previous American administration supported every antigun resolution in the UN. I'm quite confident that this will now change, the new American Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, has already shown to the corrupt body that the previous administration's anti-Semitic/anti-Israel actions would not only no longer be serpentitiously be supported but now will be opposed. We can expect the same when it comes to the UN's antigun desires. I am hopeful that once the USA again stands for the rights of free persons and to diminish the dictatorial powers of Globalizationists, we shall see an increase in firearm ownership.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

Hopefully it'll help us out down here also, usually when things work well for gun owners in the U.S, things are a little easier for us down here. It didn't help that the Obama administration would praise Australia's gun laws after every "shooting". He would empower the antis down here, and they would try to crack down on us further. Now if their was a large and vocal pro gun movement in the U.S, that proved successful it would help us in loosening up the laws down here, hopefully (as we all know how much our pollies love sucking up to the U.S).

From what I understand, no government has adopted any of the new requirements in the NFA, as this must happen when they re-write the firearms regulations (this is what its called in Victoria, I believe, I'm not sure of the other states) The only part of the NFA that was passed in WA was the re-categorisation of lever action shotguns (5 shot to CAT B, 7 shot to CAT D). The SFFP are looking to appeal this, but they need your support. The NFA doesn't have to be accepted by the state governments, which is our advantage. The only way John Howard forced them to comply in 96' was because he threatened to cut funding to the states, times have changed and firearm owners and lobby groups can and have stayed connected through the proliferation of the internet. I also recommend you support firearm lobby groups such as Shooters Union as they constantly fight for our rights on our behalf, but they're still new and relatively small. If your not a member I recommend signing up, or donating if you can't.

Keep the pressure on the pollies, they're certainly feeling the heat with the state elections, I can assure you that.

Then its our job to disprove these lies, get more shooters in the community and fight for our rights on all levels politically until we finally have our voices heard. Theis fight will never end, but we need to stay on top of it.

I am with you gun nut.I am expecting a lot of negative attitude when I man a booth for SFFP at this state election. On a fishing forum I post on there is a few bodies that are anti SFFP.I am mainly going to focus on marine parks as our main agenda but I am in negotiation with D-PaW that control state forests and pest management. If we get a good result we will have the horsepower to change a few archaic laws like sound moderating and fishing water supply dams.

WA has set up it's legislation so that changes can and were made by "regulation" No parliamentary vote required. police advise Minister whet they want. He signs off, Governor signs off, it's law. Clever little devils aren't they.
