56000?, on the 7th September they said "after 2 months they have received 26000 guns", so the last 3 weeks they more than doubled that figure?

It's so frustrating when any fool can see there are major discrepancies in many figures bandied about on issues such as the amnesties etc. Why is counting firearms and collating actual final numbers so difficult yet the numbers mentioned are all over the shop.

Only about 3-4 weeks ago our Minister for Police was standing in front of a table with several firearms seized by Police in raids and was congratulating their work on getting these off the streets, which is fine by me.

But last week she was doing the same re the amnesties success and again standing in front of a table with several firearms.

BUT insinuating a sawn off shotgun at the front stock on the table was supposedly handed in was just blain BS as 3-4weeks ago that very same shotgun was shown as a result of raid seizures on some crims. There was also a rifle with a sawn off rear stock so most others were probably from similar raids and were not firearms handed in.

Conning the public into believing someone had walked into a police station and they handed in a sawn off shotgun or rifle and it's treated as a normal amnesty outcome is utter BS.

Politicians will never tell the truth on these matters and the public get conned but nobody takes them to task.

1886 Maaate your dealing with politicians now and don't get a surprise when you find out that the media are the same
The only way to tell when the media and the pollies are telling the truth is when their mouth is shut and not talking
They are specialists in BS usage to gain power or to sway people in their thinking
To take them to task would cost big dollars and if it was not going their way the media would probably step in with their BS stories
and confuse everyone and you would most likely loose
If said in parliament they are protected by parliamentary privilege and immune to being sued
You may get an idea of how to change things from this joke "How do you turn a bull around ''
Answer ''You kick him in the nuts '' maybe that's what Malcolm Turn-Bull needs

Cheers

So glad they got all these dangerous .22's and air rifles of the street! There has been a fair number of cat C's and a few cat d's handed in, a store i visited last week had one but it is predominately crap.

They obviously copped a lot more firearms than they planned, they are WAY behind processing the ones that dealers are selling, the amnesty Lithgow SMLE ive got on hold should have been ready last week and i was told at least another 2 weeks!
Not enough characters!
