Guns stolen from Thornbury store in armed robbery

January 29, 2018 3:39pm

Mark Buttler Herald Sun

GUNS have been stolen in an armed robbery at Thornbury today.

The weapons were stolen by a group of four masked bandits who struck at a High St business at 11am.

The thieves left in a stolen car which was later found dumped in Clapham St, Thornbury.

Police said a male staff member at the store was not hurt during the incident.

Cheeky Bastards. I imagine the cops will be pretty red hot on this one.

the imported gangs doing all the home invasions, car jackings and stabbing/machete chopping, got sick of doing it via manual labor!

Id be surprised if the staff in there even knew that they were being robbed let alone guns missing.

All customer service or lack there of jokes aside never good, seems all to common in Melbourne

And on a side note, the Vic Police shot and killed a gentleman last night while he was performing an armed robbery of a convenience store.

Well, that sucks furry donkey balls. Watched vicpol press conference stream. Some reporter hinted at 60 handguns.

Unbelievable, how these guys are not allowed to defend themselves. And then let's blame the gunshop. Sad.

That's interesting. I drove past Holt's in Colac last week. They seem to have just recently bricked in the front window.

In other news...A police officer was stabbed multiple times with a "killing knife" before the assailant was shot dead by other officers on straya day m8. I know the media love slapping "High Powered" in front of anything fire arm related but wtf is a "Killing knife" and how does it vary from a regular steak knife?

I recall a certain elderly gentleman many years ago that carried a small J frame S&W in his back pocket, he owned a gunshop and was permitted to carry the firearm for the purpose of self defence. Even as a kid Bank Managers were issued 38's in order to defend themselves when opening / closing, cant see why gunshop staff can't be afforded the same protections.

In other news, a group of hooligans stormed one of Melbourne's steak restaurants and proceeded to terrorise the customers. Good thing the criminals were severely malnourished and could only speak with use of megaphone, due to lack of strength and energy.

Why have there been no details released to the media (that is of the media I’ve seen/read!) other than 4 intruders, and up to 60 hand guns?
There’s been no description of the 4 intruders, no CCTV footage.

It’s all very strange IMO, or maybe I’m just getting old and cynical!

I like the black hoodie and the logo. However, unless I'm in a company of fello sickos, average passer by would not recognise a hint of darkness iny humour and probably turn on me. Pitty. I do like it.

 Even better JS & Bentaz,
You're both Victorian, if you're close-ish to the suburb of Alphington, you can do next day pick up of your ordered T-shirts etc.
Maybe go in wearing your best hunting / firearm accessory T-shirts/caps or camo to collect your order.
Maybe even holding onto a Big Mac or a Whopper too

crack heads and the likes buying glocks and 1911's for $500 over here, so doubt they will be fetching 10k, especially when they swarm in over our borders from indo and other parts of asia.

That $10k is what the Police repeatedly say they are trading at, not what I believe :allegedly:

Read it through. Seriously, I am just dumbfounded by the stupidity of our dear leadership. Have fake guns. Have tougher secuity... FFS, just let them carry and work in twos. The end.

Banks are not armed on premises, Daddybang.

To answer the original question. Barrier to entry is too high. You'd essentially need to setup an armed guard company. The cost of maintenance, licencing and pet licensee is prohibitive, afaik.

You could hire an armed guard on permanent bases. It'd be cheaper. Or allow them to get trained and carry. That would be the best option.

Yes, maintaining and operating an armed guard company is really expensive from licencing and permit maintenance pov. Cheaper to hire one.

Realistically, to hire an armed guard would cost around $100,000 per annum. Lot of dough for some of the smaller shops. Very unlikely.

The obvious solution is to allow gun shops to use their guns to defend themselves, probably won't happen because jewellers etc will then want guns.

What happens if you try to rob a gun shop in the USA.
