We do have a problem here with the Police. They are mostly Jackbooted Nazis raising revenue on their high powered vehicles and harrasing the average person. All you can do is hope to not have to deal with them.I am sure it is a national thing.I remember the party police in Townsville 1984 when at 9.30PM Saturday night 10 leather clad cops bust in the door and grabbed the sound system and when the owner tried to talk to them he was arrested and spent the night in a cell.In Joh Bjelke Petersen's republic you were in bed asleep by 10 PM or else

What I really found the most disturbing, apart from the goon who for no visible reason opened up his steel Asp baton and flogged into the victim's lower leg after dragging it out from his curled up defensive posture, was the obvious glee they showed at the whole opportunity to beat the snot out of someone they KNEW was disabled..

Another glaring stand-out was the difference in attitude and handling of the victim by the Ambo paramedics, using a watering can to rinse off the pepper rather than using a hose to drive it further into his eyes and throat and handling him gently and with respect.

You reap what you sew and this is why so many people no longer trust the police, law abiding citizens with no criminal intent or history actually fear any interaction with them, and many actively hate them.

Forget WA, seems the Victorians are going for the "Most Needless Violence During An Arrest" award:

This guy pled guilty to some pretty scummy acts: including assaulting an 80yo man. Still, kicking, punching an beating a person in the head AFTER they have been cuffed can in no way be justified... oh yeah, there was the choking too.

Only one term for it, really: brutality.

You're right there GB. Old mate Brett Guerin, asst commissioner for "ethical" standards, what a perverse joke, resigned after making fake IDs to go the racist rant online.
That's what they use to investigate their own behaviour.
For those who claim to uphold the law and hold us to the letter, it should be one feckup and you're on your ear.

I actually agree with you if it was a court sentenced public flogging.

But the way that goon was punching into the vulnerable area in the back of the skull, then using his steel baton like a hammer into the same region while the scumbag was cuffed and prone was cowardly and malicious. There's a very good reason MMA bans fighters from striking that part of the head.

If we weren't living in such a nanny state we could use the rattan to flog the bastardry out of petty crims, it would serve as a better deterrent than counseling and a few days of community service.
It can never be at the discretion of individual coppers though.

Police are not to be trusted , People are not to be trusted once you give them power and let them get away with these sorts of things
'' Even though some of these ferals do need a flogging '' then they take it upon themselves to become judge and executioner
Due force is acceptable but there is a legal path to follow for punishment if penalties were made to fit the crime instead of giving
them a slap on the wrist things may be a little different and it may deter them from committing the crime in the first place
But hey if you beat up old ladies and you get beat up in the process of being arrested after kicking out at the police then
don't whinge , live by the sword die by the sword

I have a few mates in the police in a couple of states, and mostly the ones I have dealt with are fine people who deserve our support and would have no doubt about their sense of justice and serving the community. However, some people slip through the cracks and join the police to wield power that they don't deserve, mostly because they have been the target of bullying and harassment when younger, and want to show everyone how tough they are by hiding behind a badge and a taser, or worse, a pistol. These people are in the minority and one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Just remember though when it comes to our esteemed and politically neutral media, half of what you read or hear is bull, the other half s**t!
You can’t legislate against ignorance, stupidity or an opinion made up of both!
