juststarting wrote:Alright fellas, so it has happened - I now own a 303. Now, don't get me wrong, I still think that the No4 is an ugly broom stick. No5 did pick my interest for a while, however I refuse to pay crazy prices people are asking for them. So a bit of hunting around and what not, $915 (door-to-door) later I am sitting here happier than a pig in s**t with a reasonably sore shoulder (which is actually rare) and a pretty sweet deal, I think.
The 'ol surplus tin got a little lighter today...
70 rounds later, this girl is still going strong.
Few shots at paper and then a friend and I started walking them in to the 500m gong and a bunch of clay targets (I don't think enough people just have fun shooting) that we dropped along the range, at Little Liver. I took a risk on the rifle, the photos could have been better, but I wanted to move on it fast. Wasn't disappointed. Also, huge thanks, Supaduke for looking at the photos for me, was big help.

P14 .303
All matching
Circa 1916, need more research. Finish is about 90% intact. Wood is dark but no cracks. Needs a full strip and tidy up. Rifling is strong and the bore is bright. All up in pretty good nick for a 100 year old rifle. Has the volley sights which is fairly rare. Brass unit disk is present. Has a rack plate added at the bottom from when it served with the French in Africa. A long and interesting history to be uncovered.
