No concern for 'stopping power', self defence or anything else.
9mm as I read it is cheaper to shoot, has less recoil, and shoots flatter than 45acp.
45acp wins out in power, and other things irrelevant to punching paper or clanging gongs.
But people still shoot it?

Just to check I've got this right.... shooting "major" is the higher power loads, and it's just for fun and keeping things in the same league? Yes?

That's why we go to 38 Super or 357sig for the major loads in IPSC.

Here in Vic we can shoot most disciplines with 45's, such as SASS, IPSC, CSD (all matches in the CSD rulebook), Service Pistol, NRA Pistol, Pre 1955 Services Handguns (Classic Pistol) as well as silhouette and, of course, Black Powder (no limit). We have had this for a few years and despite what the Green Scum would say, the world hasn't come to an end. Cheers.
