Ben offered this 30 30 from a guy at work who owned from new and would like to know a bit about it/them, I know it was said to be the cheaper version of the 94 but what else?

different wood(Birchwood) and I think it's a 20in barrel. I have a pta in at the moment for one in excellent condition that I picked up for four hundred. As ya said just an economy version of the 94. :drinks:

Also differs from the original 94 in having a rebounding hammer and a safety catch. That said, however, still a solid, no-nonsense rifle in what I personally consider to be the best short-range pig-belting cartridge around. Not that I'm biased at all......
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but personally I prefer the .30/30 Winchester.

I owned a Ranger about 20 years ago. From memory they have no checkering on the wood. They had the angle eject so you could fit a scope. They also came with the cross bolt safety that a lot of traditionalist didnt like. I am pretty sure it had the 20 inch barrel with a 6 shot tubular magazine. Mine shot well. It was reliableand fun to shoot. They cost around $500 new in the mid 90s.
