T3X TAC A1 with folding stock legal in Victoria / Australia?

Post by Wes » 04 Jan 2018, 9:39 pm

Hey guys,

I had seen the T3X TAC A1 videos and stuff before and see it's got a folding stock.

I assumed this would be illegal in Australia, but looking on dealer pages it looks like they're selling with this?

e.g. https://www.claytonfirearms.com.au/prod ... a1-clayton

People are closed all over the place with the holidays and haven't gotten through to a store to check.

Have I totally got that wrong? T3X with folding stock is legal here? We didn't get stuck with a fixed version only?

I'd have to check the specific rifle but folding stocks are legal here in Vic, I have two of them on my Rugers.

Yep but I avoided because I would of liked to take it up to NSW

I thought the same but I have the original stocks for that.
Going up to NSW to hunt just seems painful compared to here so I don't know that's ever likely to become a problem anyway :-)

I've decided to get one.

Just mulling over do I get a .308 as my all-purpose rifle (6 species deer legal) or go with the .260 for dedicated long range build (targets, pests, 3 small species deer legal) and keep my 7mm-08 for stalking the big fellas.

Hmmm.

I couldn't imagine hunting with it. Too damn heavy.

Yep. That has occurred to me.

Leaning towards getting one chambered in .260 and keeping my 7mm stalker the more I think about it.
