Alright, tonights reloading extravaganza started with a version of my personal hell! Wanted to make 20 cartridges, grabbed a box with primers and BAM!
I have more, but 19! FFS!
First one off the production line:
Filler, wad, grease cookie (wax), 2 more wads, compress, seat the zombie killer (more compression, so think I am safe from that angle).
Seems like a lot of people are going with 85gr of 2F BP. As always, working up to that from 80gr in 1gr increments. Expecting 85gr to work fine, but safety first, so working up.
Chugging along:
Fruits of my labour:
Usual .308 for size reference:
Overall, not a fan of casting anything this big, including my 500gr baby dinosaur killer slugs for 45-70. Seems to be very, very, very hard to do without a bottom pour furnace or ladle, because the lead starts cooling while you're still pouring and there's a lot to pour. I think I may have outgrown my ladle. Keep saying this, but next time I am going to cast this things - bottom pour! I did cast a few though, so that's not happening any time soon.
Can't wait to shoot them now! Droooool!
