Subsonic hollow points.
The three main ones i use are...
Wini's, CCI's & RWS...mostly Win at present based on the price vs overall accuracy equation out of the rifle i use.

Personally I find ansolutely no need for high velocity ammo in a .22 for hunting.
Its just excess noise for no practicle gain. :)

Edit...a moment of lesdixia...i mean practical gain...

CCI Standard Velocity.
Subsonic 40gn RN.
Accuracy is more important than a hollow point.
I took a fox side-on a few weeks ago and the bullet totally destroyed the heart and both lungs, without hitting any bones.

+2 - most accurate in my 9422 lever action.

But Winchester 40gr Power Points also shoot well in the 9422 and shot best in my CZ452 and CZ455 (mini-mags, not so much). Good alround hunting ammo and made in Oz, so no worries about availability.

My Anschutz loves Winchester 42gr Max Powerpoints in the field.

42gr Powerpoint subsonics similar price as well.

CCI subsonic HP (1050fps) for rabbits and hares.
I don't hunt foxes with the .22LR. For them it's either the .22WMR or .243.
It'll shoot the fleas off a dog's back at five hundred yards, Tannen, and it's pointed straight at your head!

Didn't say I won't shoot a fox with the .22LR... If an opportunity arises while bunny hunting I'll take it but if foxes are the focus for the day/night then the LR stays in the safe.

I've tried some Eley High Velocity Hollow Points and they are quite accurate in my CZ 452. More accurate than the Winchesters.

Ironically, I had a good opportunity at a fox with my first box and managed to pick the only bad round I've come across to date. It didn't go bang like all the others and the fox got away. This hasn't happened again and I dropped my first roo with it this week.

I understand your point. The animal was injured and had to be put down at close range. Poor wording on my part.

RWS HP (high penetration).
My 452 cloves them and they do a lot of damage.

Federal Champion high velocity hollow points. Accurate and cheap.
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but personally I prefer the .30/30 Winchester.

Ive tried 2 different batches of that ammo in 2 rifles...
The targets appeared as if damaged by shrapnel from a nearby explosion.
I know of 3 others with the same or similar results...
