Mine would have to be .300 WM, great ballistics, great for medium to large game and just plain fun

260 rem.
Gentle on the shoulder but fast and flat.
Good for medium size game and long range plinking.
And not a 6.5 Creedmoor

.22 lr.
Cheap.
Most of my Rifles are 22s.Including my first Rifle and inherited ones.
Able to be shot at more ranges.Means they get more use.
Quiet enough for small blocks.
Still capable of taking Rabbits and Foxes.
Cheap enough to get a sore trigger finger before going broke.

Not bad for a gatling gun but for me the Germans did it better.
Put the 88 in the Tiger and then you've got the ultimate tank killer for a period of time .

the gau-8 isnt the best no. but the fact that they built that then designed the a10 to fit around it is pretty damn cool.

hey what do we do with this gun? i dunno? build an aircraft on it?

Man that's a tough question! Today's fave is the .44-40 coz I won an off hand event with my 104 yo Winny '92 today, but I could just as easily say the .50-70, .40-65, .32-20 etc. I guess I really just like very old cartridges and the shootin irons that go with them. Modern calibers and modern rifles have their uses I suppose but they just dont make me moist!

Hmmm, not sure you can call it a cartridge,I'd say 50 cal flintlock.
But for a proper cartridge I'd say 12g. Not much you can't kill with one if you can actually hunt.

Is it called the man bun because it is only about 10 years old and hasn't been around for 100 years like 6.5x55?
I believe the .260 has only been around for 10 years longer than the 6.5Cm, and both cartridges were formed from necking down a parent case. Do you need a man bun to own a .260 also or is there another reason that the man bun is only applicable to the Creedmoor?

I don't have a favourite, but I have had great experiences with some.
I shoot more .22LR than anything else. I don't own anything else that I can spend a few hours sitting in a paddock and burn through 300rds, without feeling sore afterwards, or annoying my neighbours. Some of my centrefires I can shoot for similar cost as .22LR, but the recoil with heavy cast bullets adds up after a few-hundred rounds, even subsonic. And then I have to spend a few hours reloading them for next time.
I guess I like the 7mm-08 the most currently, but that can change quickly depending on what I'm doing.

.32-40, a great old cartridge.

"What the .32-40 lacks in velocity and energy it more than makes up for in accuracy. Many bench rest and Schuetzen records have been set with the .32-40. This has been accomplished using both black and smokeless powder behind cast bullets, breach seated, or fixed ammunition. In its heyday, some of the finest single shot target rifles of that era were chambered for the .32-40."
