Yeah, I picked up a good second-hand Weaver Grand Slam 6-20x40 AO with the Varminter reticle (fine crosshair with a very small dot in the middle) - exactly the same as the top scope in Allan's photo here:
I've owned a couple of the new Weaver Grand Slams now, and they have great glass for the money, while the side focus models all go down to 25 yards. I really liked the look of the Bushnell Elite 4500 6-24x40 - it also has side focus down to 25 yards - but the crosshairs were a bit thick for my liking.
I'm happy with the Weaver. It's a little longer than my other scopes, but is not too heavy and has excellent glass and a great reticle, as well as 1/8 clicks and focus down to 10 yards. I've got another Weaver GS 4-16 Varmint-EBX that will be going on a CZ 453 17hmr - I highly recommend that scope (one of the best for the money, IMO), but I needed a bit more magnification for target work on my 22.
I'll be running SK rifle match ammo through mine. I also have some Elley Club and Winchester Powerpoints (which shot really well in my CZ 452), but the SK seems to be more consistent and is only $12 a box, which is pretty good for match ammo.
