M95 Dutch 6.5mm en-bloc clips?

Post by bladeracer » 21 Aug 2018, 4:51 pm

Anybody know where I can find a couple of these?
Not the 8mm clips, those are everywhere, these are proving harder to find.

G'day bladeracer,
Gun shows are the best bet at the moment, look at ammo packets as well as the ammo came in clips also. I bought mine from Numrich before the bastards stopped shipping here. Sometimes they pop up on ebay, just have to find a seller willing to ship International. If worst comes to worst I'll lend you one of mine so you can at least shoot the thing and you just give it back when you find some, Cheers.

Thanks No1Mk3.
I ordered some from LibertyTree after reading that they do indeed ship internationally if under US$100, but they cancelled the order on the basis of stripper clips being magazines.
I'll explain it to them but will probably have to look elsewhere.

I can single-load it for now by fitting the rounds (.303 brass) into the bolt and then installing the bolt.

I ordered a single clip off an Aussie seller as they look pretty poor for $28 apiece.
And then I got a reply back from a guy in the US that I asked, despite him stating no international postage.
So I have seven clips en-route to me now :-)

I formed brass from .303 by running it through the Arisaka FLS die, then trimming them to 54mm - very easy.
I loaded 95gn VMax's on 12gn of Trailboss for case forming, and the bullets hit sideways at 25m.
So I tried the .267" Hornady 160gn RN on 12gn of Trailboss, and got a nice group of round holes.
I'll have to do some load development, and I'll try some of the heavier .264" bullets as well.

I've been unable to identify which model it is though. I know they had nine different models of the carbine in service at the same time, but I've only been able to find photos of about half of them.

Anybody know which this is, and what the plate on the stock might mean?

G'day bladeracer,
Sorry to be a pain, but we are up to about 13 carbines, unless you count the Indonesian and Portuguese versions then we hit around 17. I have the .22 Trainer version of this carbine made by Portugal in 1948, as well as several others in 6.5 and 1 Indonesian in 303. Yours is a "general" issue KNIL, used by several organizations including Police and Paramilitary. Your particular carbine, according to the unit plate, is issud to the 2nd Marachausee Brigade, rack number 97. Best info on unit plates for the East Indies carbines is in "The Dutch Luger" by Martens & de Vries, though it is written in Dutch and you have to translate the bits you want to read. Here is a pic of some Marachausee, the one seating holding your carbine (nice to think, maybe the actual???)

PS: The cartouche partially obscured by the KNIL unit plate is the Royal stamp of Queen Wilhelmina, a form of official military acceptance mark for both Continental and KNIL weapons, Cheers.

That's outstanding No1!
First photo I've seen of it!

There appears to be an English copy of the book on Ebay, but it's more than I want to spend I'm afraid.

G'day bladeracer,
I try to help, and you cost me 83 Euro! Seriously though, I didn't know it had been published in English so I never bought a copy, always borrowed a friends, so now I have bought the one you linked to, a bit dear maybe but books are good investments and I probably have paid more for some books than the rifles they describe! I am going to try your Trailboss load in some of my carbines as well. I also have 500 Hawkesbury River 140g 6.5 I bought cheap to make "play loads" for the Greek Mannlicher, might shove a few of those through the Hembrugs as well, so thanks for the post, Cheers.
