Aussie, Aussie, Aussie

Never fired the Tikka, but I had a 101 and loved it, stupidly traded it on a 17WSM.
10 year warranty now too.

If the T1x is even half as good as the T3x I don’t think you will go wrong with either. Personally I own the Lithgow and rate it highly. In saying that if the Tikka was available when I purchased mine I would have been suffering the same problem.

So basically you want a rifle now, but are unsure as to gamble on a 101, or be a little more patient and wait for some feedback on the t1x (once it comes out). My advice in the simplest form, DO NOT buy a 101 whose first two digits of its serial number are less than 17.

Yes the first two digits indicate the year of manufacture - anything less than a late 16 built will quite possibly have feeding problems. Sure Lithgow will rectify this under warranty, but you will have to join the warranty queue. And is that something you really want to do for a brand new rifle?

How about buy a JW15 for $199, get a nice scope (to be transferred later), have some fun cleaning it up and accurizing it, all while you wait for the t1x to arrive. Then when it does, make more of an informed decision of the LA101 vs the t1x.

The US importer sent an email to their customers yesterday informing them that the Tikka factory in Finland had produced a total of 300 T1x rifles before shutting down for their annual summer holidays. All production so far was chambered in 17HMR.

They had some sort of design or quality control issue that caused a production delay.

They have a large global backlog of pre-orders to fulfill. I would not be surprised if it's next year before the T1x is in stock in shops here.

I have the LA101 in left handed and have now shot about 2500 rounds through it and will put another 300 through it tommorrow arvo, it is a lovely rifle , was sorting target ammo a couple of fridays ago and shot a 11mm ten shot group at 50M with SK Match, the action is "heavier" than my Tikka centerfire but very smooth. Its a keeper.

Already got a junk 22, but if the t1x is coming real soon it could be worth waiting.

Tikka will be awesome as always I'm sure. I've got a few.
But the Lithgow shoots amazing and their stocks are light years ahead of tikka for poly.

Ok, well I'll throw in my 2c then FWIW - I have a LA101 and I've shot it more than any of my other rifles (mostly rimfire silhouette and associated practice) - it's a weirdly shaped thing, but now I have actually fallen in love with the tall european style comb - it is my favourite stock out of all my rifles - feels like slipping on an old pair of perfectly fitting shoes when I shoot it. So much so, I want to make custom, similarly-shaped walnut stocks for my other rifles!

Now in saying that, I also have a tikka t3 CTR, which I also shoot a lot (also mostly silhouette practice) - it has a little built-in cheek riser - which I feel is really important for cheek-weld consistency. It's also an amazing rifle; but If i had to pick, from an ergonomics perspective, I guess I like the shape of the LA101 slightly better. These are easily the two most accurate rifles I own.

When it comes to the t1x; I'm not sure whether it has that cheek riser - in saying that, per design, the action profile is the same as all the other tikka x's - so stock interchangeability is abviously one of its selling points. If you get the t1x, you could easily change/upgrade the stock down the track.

My Mrs just picked up a Browning TBolt, nice little riffle, its only had about 20 rnds through it, but I just put 6 shots into a 1/2 inch at 50m laying prone with a bipod and no rear rest (and very rushed as I left the liitle fella i side watching TV) Just another option to make thing even more difficult

If im ever stumped with a choice of two rifles that seem on par with one another i like to pick them up and shoulder each one to see what feels the most comfortable.
Wait untill the t1comes into your lgs, your decision might come down to weight, feel, length of pull etc.

Just to confuse you more, have you looked at old second hand proven stuff?
The most accurate rifle i own is a 1954 brno!

Also a mate of mine has an old single shot anschutz (not sure of the model) worth about $50 that shoots like a lazer.
Money doesnt necceaarily buy accuracy.

I'm definitely open to any and all out there when I go down a shoulder a few when my licence clears, I had a ball shooting a mates 1980 something Striling 22LR with open sights and they can be had with a 10 shot mag for about 50 bucks, 4/10 shots on a 4" plate at roughly 100 metres made me pretty happy with it. Seems like every few weeks there are 2nd hand 22lr's with a scope popping up at a few of the local gun shops, If a 452 American or similar pops up I'll probably get one of those as I've shouldered a couple and like the overall feel. I would love to support Australian Made but until I handle one I'm not sure how the extra weight will feel.

I havent been lucky enough to have a look at a tikka T1X, I look forward to finally having a look at one. I do however own a la101 in 22lr and can happily say that with out hesitation I would buy another it shoots really well and to date i havent had a problem with it at all. That being said I also like my tikka and sako rifles so im somewhat torn lol.

I think it’s fairly safe to say at this point that by far the biggest difference between two is the weight. Having personally felt a t1x (and owning a la101) the weight difference is rather significant. So given that fact, I know which one I’d take bush (the t1x) and I know which one I’d take to the range (the 101).

I had T1X on order for 3 months and when i rang to get an update on arrival i was told March 2019. I bought the Lithgow instead. Probably better supporting the local product anyway :)
